more cruise ?S need your advise

hi girls=
geting down to the nitty gritty with packing today

for those of you who have cruised, how formal is the formal dinner?

we are going on the soverign of the seas...royal caribbeen.
they say one formal night...and the options for men are TUX or suit

hubby wants to know if a nice suit/tie combo will work...or if a sportjacket/tie/dress slacks will work. he was going to pack his tux and I said no

next: I have a dressy dress from a wedding I wore...burgendy with like, shimmery threads/sparkles in it. it is that lycra stuff that is supposed to pack like a dream. IS THIS TOO DRESSY?

also, every day attire: jeans, chinos, nicer t shirts, nicer denium outfits ok?
i know no shorts in the dining room

I checked the temps inthe bahamas:
70 DEGREES! ok better than the 20 degrees here...but still not tank top weather

any advice welcomed

thanks in advance

you will see everything from ball gowns and tuxedos, to semi casual.

I wore a simple black cocktail dress, my FH wore pants and a shirt, no tie

the formal nights are however formal you want to make them. Some people wear evening gowns, some people wear cocktail dresses, some people wear nice pants suits. Whatever you're comfortable in. Same goes for your DH. Some men wear a dark sport coat and slacks, while some are dressed in tuxes.
As for the casual attire, for during the day, jeans are fine, but I'm pretty sure you're not 'allowed' to wear jeans in the dining room.

I was on that ship last year.

I wore a cocktail length gown and DH wore a dark suit.
