Went to see 2 DJ's and something came up that we knew nothing about - -Lighting. All these DJ's offer different lighting packages (tuss lighting and intelligent lighting). I have been to so many weddings lately and never seemed to notice lighting...I notice if a emcee talks to much and if the music is good but I never noticed the lighting. So what is important? I want people to feel comfortable dancing but to not want a 'guido' dance club. What are your opinions?

Well, I'm using Invitation to Dance. We're getting 1 MC, no giveaways and the Standard Truss lighting system. I think it has 7 different lighting effects. I think that all that intelligent lighting is for really big parties. We're only having maybe 100 people, so I thought that was too much lighting.

Be careful with the lighting and the smoke, my photographer warned me about how they can affect your pix, so choose wisely. One bride she said used so much smoke then was asking how come the pix looked so cloudy, she was like, that is what your dj was doing.

I honestly think it depends on personality...my FH and I are not dance club types...we want good music for dancing of course, but we know our crowd wouldn't be into the disco looking scene. We went with the basic lighting package.

which one are you using and why?

Also depends on the time of day

We are also using the basic lighting system because the reception is during the day. The lighting is less distinguishable during the day.

Of all the dj's we interviewed, Michael from Music by Michael gave us the best education about what to look for in dj services. He didn't pressure us with sales talk, but gave us points to consider. I felt his review of lighting and what it could and couldn't do for our party was really helpful. I don't have his number off the top of my head but his website is musicbymichael.com. Even if you book someone else, he'll help you out with your questions.
