Thanks again for everyone's suggestions on my previous post...now, to the actual party.
Is it customary to do any one thing in particular? Did or will anyone be having a DJ? Any thoughts would be great!

Re: More engagement party questions...
We had a DJ. The dance floor was packed for the whole party!
ETA: You know your guests better than anyone. I knew my guest were 'party animals' thats why the DJ was appropriate. I do not think that a DJ is necessary, its really up to you!

Re: More engagement party questions...
we had ours at fox hollows and hired the piano player that usually plays at their restaurant, drew, to play for the duration of the event. he was AMAZING and did ANY requests that people wanted!! there was definitely dancing too. it gave a much more low-key feel than a DJ, which i thought was appropriate for an engagement party... it was a huge success and everyone loved it!

Re: More engagement party questions...
I don't think there are any Eparty customs/traditions... just have fun with it and put your own twist to it.
We had a harvest theme since it was in November. (I really need to post pics...sorry there are not any up yet)
We didn't have a DJ. We rented a hall that had speakers through out the room. We hooked up our iPod to it, but it wasn't music to dance to.... everyone was just mingling and talking to eachother.

Re: More engagement party questions...
Im doing the IPOD thing. My engagement party is this Saturday we are using an ipod and speakers. We rented the catering room at a restaurant/bar and are doing a buffet we want people to meet and mingle with eachother and are keeping it under 60 because we are only 9 months out from the wedding. I dont think there are really any set rules just do what you are comfortable with.
Thanks everyone! I am liking the I-Pod thing...since it won't cost me extra....but now I am wondering if I shold do karaoke...FH is BIG into it...and maybe this way i can get out of having it at my wedding!

You can just make it a costume party... it doesn't have to be halloween... that might be tough to pull off?
