More Kiddie TV Nostalgia- Was anyone else crushed...

when you watched Romper Room and hoped to hear your name at the end...and NEVER HEARD IT? 'I see Henrietta and Lars and Matilda and Algernon'...but NO Tracy! Never!

That used to totally bum me out.

Yes, I was!!! There were always: Kathy, Katie and even Katherine, but I don't think I ever heard Kathleen.

I posted in another thread that the only time she ever said Heidi was once when I was on the show. It was bad enough that for years I could never find a key chain with my name on it, but to feel left out of Romper Room too!!

They NEVER said 'Felicia' ..

And to add to my childhood misery, when it came to little trinkets with your name on it (keychains, etc), there was never any Felicia ones unless you had to special order it

And to add to my childhood misery, when it came to little trinkets with your name on it (keychains, etc), there was never any Felicia ones unless you had to special order it

I could usually find things, but 'Tracey' with the e is more common so I was usually out of luck. For a week in third grade I started using the 'e'. I was in a bowling league and we got a free ball, which I ordered with the 'e' in my name.

My mother was P!SSED.

I never heard Liz or Elizabeth on Romper Room which pissed me off because there were a frajillion 'Elizabeths' when I was a kid!

All the nametag stuff for Elizabeth was spelled with an 'S'! What the frick!? Elisabeth? That's just wrong.

One time when I was 5 or 6, I wanted an intial coffee mug (all my siblings had them) but I couldn't find an E or an L. I got a Z instead. My mother thought that was hilarious!

With some of the names coming out these days, they might need a translator to recite the names...

Daiquann, Aesha, and forget it with the muslim names. Anytime I have a muslim client, I always feel bad because I butcher their names badly

Never heard anyone named Juliet on Romper Room nor was I ever able to buy things with my name on it. I could find tons of Julie things, but never Juliet!!!

Still don't know many people with my name. Fortunately now you can personalize your own keyrings at amusement parks and mall kiosks.
