Marcella, Yabbobaby - Thanks so much for your help. I definitely have my homework to do. Your advice is soooo helpful because I feel I am working with less time than normal. I see that some girls on here are already booked for 2004

Sonicstef - You're pictures are amazing to say the least. It looks like you had the PERFECT wedding!!! I love the NYC pictures - that's a big reason why I am leaning towards Manhattan for the reception. The Yale club looks really nice. But, like you said, I have to see it in person to see if it 'speaks' to me. Thank you for being so helpful! By the way, your Anne Barge gown is stunning!

My FI & I went to several places in NYC--tribeca rooftop, 200 fifth club and Tavern on the Green. I have all the prices..let me say this first they are all over $200 pp, if you are able to negogiate less it is b/c they want to close out the place for that date and no one is booking.Tribeca--nice place, sort of novo eccletic---if you are not getting married in the evening or nite it is not really that nice, the room has many windows and looks totally different from day to night.
Yes, Lovin' Ovens caters Tribeca and 200 Fifth Club. Tribeca runs around $20 per head more.
200 Fifth Club--when we first looked at it, it was not set up for a party--bad impression. Saw it as it was getting set-up---changes appearance but, they charge for all the draping etc..to transform the lobby of The international Toy building. The CLub is old, very old and it shows. Bathrooms are nasty, bridal room--well it is a coach with a table. The other thing is the ballroom area has pillars in it, not go for viewing and acoustically a nightmare for a band.
Tavern on the Green---has 6-8 weddings per day, you must use their vendors, you are limited to your room by the # of guests. There have been recent food poisoning reports there. I have eatten there and honestly it is the name, the food is not that good after lunch.
I would say to check out the other places mentioned..Yale Club etc...
If you want to have a small, intimate wedding and will leave NYC go to Oheka. I loved the place but it could not accommodate us for the size of our party.
Good Luck!!!

How about Abigail Kirsch's places??? We looked at Botanical Garden - don't need many flowers!!! And the Piers... Here are some more suggestions as I live in and grew up in the city..Puck Building- Had prom there- AWESOME!
Waters Edge at East River Yacht Club- Had bat mitzvah there. AWESOME!
Water's Club- Friend had Wedding there- gorgeous!
I would stay away from Tavern on the Green- they don't know the meaning of customer service and they thrive on tourist business. one time business only is their motto. They don't work hard to impress you and make you the happiest you can be. JMO. Had a personal nightmare with them!
I agree with the clubs- Yale, Princeton, Columbia... Those are wonderful.
My personal fave and the place I wanted to have my wedding..... The St Regis- expensive but great for party of 80 or so.... That was FI and I second choice to having wedding outside the city....

I went to a wedding at The 200 Fifth Club and it was phenomenal. The food was delicious, and beautifully presented. The area for the ceremony was absolutely beautiful. The ballroom is old-looking, but that contributes to its charm. It was one of the best and most unique weddings I've ever been to. Someone posted saying that the bathrooms were 'nasty' and that the sound in the room was not good. I disagree. The bathroom was very nice when I was there and the band sounded awesome. Just my opinion, but you should see for yourself! Good Luck!
