Re: more than anything i cant wait

i am just really nervous about keeping up with a house and all

i am going to sound like a baby right now but my mom doesnt work so she cooks every night and she cleans everything except for my room - right now she is in italy and it is SO HARD keeping up even tho its just me and my dad. . . i get home from work, make dinner, do laundry and then i clean one room . . .and its already like 10pm and i am ready to pass out! and the whole cooking thing. . . i looove to cook but i stink at the whole timing of different dishes and all that stuff . . . its getting me so nervous that when we live together i am going to be so exhausted from doing all that stuff that i am going to be too exhausted to enjoy married life

oh geez i cant believe i am writing this, please dont think i am a spoiled brat - its just a hard adjustment! and its making me nervous!

PLUS i hate staying home alone at night which i will have to get used to since FH works such long hours - i am sooo paranoid!

ok sorry for taking over the thread with my issues lol

I am the most undomestic person u will ever meet. I read all these posts about not getting mad at FH if he doesnt refresh the toilet paper, but i am the one who doesnt do any of that.

I know how to cook. very well actually. i just rather FH take me out to eat. He likes simple things so when i cook he is in heaven. I hate cleaning!!! So FH has a cleaning lady come in.

I get so paranoid when i hear noises. I always think someone is going to break in, i got problems lol. but its normal, FH is such a deep sleeper i stay up with my ears open all nite.
Its alot of fun living together, and i should contribute alot more considering i dont really work. I cant imagine if i had a career and had to come home cook clean , and slave away

awwww thats too cute that ure nervous! ure going to do a great job!

i totally hear where ure coming from. my fh works long hours and my family is in jersey...being alone is like the one thing i didn't like!!!!

the first time we had to really 'clean' ---it was too funny. fh didn't realize how much work really goes into cleaning.

FH and I have lived together for two years now. I love it! I'm a little worried though, that once we're married, it won't feel any different because we already will have lived together for for years. Although, if it's already great... what's wrong with more 'great'?

Me too I LOVE IT!
I know I will love it even more once we are married

girls ..it definitely is sooo much fun living together ...but just be aware that u see a totally different side of him that you have never seen before ....its great most of the time ...but it also is very trying on ur relationship getting used to the changes ...just have an open mind going into it that it is going to be very different from the way u were living before ...sorry to be the bearer of bad news but i figured it helps ...it wouldve helped me a lot if someone told me that before we moved in together ...but again its so much better than livin with ur parents ! HTH

Thanks for this insight! I'm not living with him yet but will be in Aug....and in NC not NY....so I'm really starting to get a little nervous about it! I've always lived on my own and never had a roomate. I guess it will be 'interesting' to see how things fall into place!!

I know what you mean. My FH works full time and is in Law School so I don't see him until 10:00pm some nights. Sometimes even later
They when he is a lawyer for the first few years he will be working long long hours. It is hard but I am getting used to it, or I should say that after three years of it so far I have just gotten used to it.

And don't worry about the dinner and timing thing. You will get it

I'm with you.. we've been together for almost 8 yrs (8yrs in Jan) and we both live at home. I used to live 5 min from him.. and that was easier, now close to 30 min away, we only see each other fri-sunday. We really look foward to moving in together... but that wont be till we are married...

my fh use to live 5 min away and we use to see each other everyday for 7 yrs and he had his own apartment in his parents 2 family house and then they sold the house and moved upstate almost 2 yrs ago and fh moved into my house and he lived here for a couple of months until we broke up for 4 months and he moved upstate with them so he has been there for a year since we have been back together and we only see each other on weekends...im not in for any surprises or anything because we have been together for 8 yrs and i practically lived at his place when he had his apartment...i just want to see him everyday again and sleep with him everyday!!

oh and on the subject ant n tilde brought up...im def not one of those i have to cook for my husband and clean up after him kind of girls and i love that fh doesnt expect me to be becasue i cant cook and whenever we make dinner my fh says ok ur doing the dishes if im cooking..not that i dont plan on learning how to cook and making dinner every once in awhile but i just think that we shouldnt stress about that because we will learn over time...my mom still has dinner waiting for me when i get home and everything and of course im going to miss that lol but it is time to learn to do things on my own

Great post!!! I am so excited to live with my FH - he's the bestest and we get along really well (duh). We have everything mapped out - I cook, he cleans, he cooks, I clean, I scrub the bathrooms (my favorite - really) he takes out garbage, we both do yardwork, we think that's what's going to happen!

Re: more than anything i cant wait

all i have to say is that im really happy to have my fh HOME!!! (by that i mean in the same town) hes been away at school for 3 LONG YEARS!!! and we lived for one year 4 1/2 hours away he was in Mass. And then he was in westchester for 2 years. So im still adjusting to seeing him everyday!!! I would LOVE to live with him but i want to wait it makes things more fun!... were waiting till about a year before the wedding then moving into an apt. my parents are so graciously making for the 2 of us in their new home! Until we can get some money together to buy something of our own! but hes a police officer and im just not ready to be home at all hours of the night alone in a strange new place. sounds selfish but he worries about me being home alone so why not take advantage of the apt in my parents home to readjust!

I hate staying home alone at night too! I am such a baby...when my parents go away, i sleep at my brother's house because I absolutely HATE sleeping home alone at night, it just creeps me out!

I also feel like I might be too tired to enjoy married life. I'm going to be a teacher, so I'll work all day, come home/stay at work to prepare lessons and grade papers, come home and cook/clean, and by that time I feel like I'll be ready to pass out.

It's definitely a hard adjustment and I'm very nervous too. But I'm more excited. I can't wait to live with FH!
