from my wedding tip email

Wedding-day beauty is more than skin deep - you have to buy the
right undergarments to get the look you want. Think about the
silhouette you are trying to attain, and how to realize this
through your undergarments.

Add volume to your dress by wearing a:
* Petticoat: These are used in fuller dresses to smooth the
lines of your figure. They're available in a range of
fullness, from the classic A-line to the voluminous ballroom
style. Try a few different kinds to see which makes the most
of your dress and your figure. If you're tall and want to
emphasize the embroidery or beadwork on the skirt of your
dress, a full petticoat will draw attention to these fabric
details.
* Hoop skirt: Hoops are ideal for heavy, full skirts. Although
hoops lend to a romantic look, they don't always allow for
easy movement or sitting.
* Crinoline: A thick netting worn under your dress, crinoline is
best for light fabrics. For best results, hang the crinoline
upside down to keep it full for your wedding day.

Keep your silhouette as slim as possible with:
==> Slip: A slip creates smoother lines with a narrow and opaque
gown. If you're 5'3' or shorter, avoid full-volume
petticoats; a narrower line with a slip will be more
flattering to your figure.
==> Slimmers: These lycra or spandex garments offer subtle
support and comfort under your wedding gown. Try a trusted
brand name, and choose from upper torso and full body
varieties.
==> Corsets: Corsets also keep your silhouette slim. Wear the
corset for a day sometime before the wedding to be sure it's
comfortable for an all-day affair.

One of my top picks for lingerie online is Bare Necessities.
Not only do they have some great prices on lingerie and other,
well, necessities, but they have helpful information on how to
choose the right bra for your dress (and comfort).

Remember the proper undergarments can make or break your look,
so cough up the extra money for a smooth line and comfort.
