morning after brunch

FH and I would like to do a morning after brunch. We expect to have at least 50 people staying at the hotel so it will not be a cheap ordeal. FH and i looked at finances and unfortunately see that it is not something we can pay for.
My father wants to do something as well (since half of the OOT people are his family) and therefore agreed to pay for his share of the guests for a brunch at the hotel.
FMIL doesnt seem to want to pay (FH is going to speak with her again tonight) but if she refuses...what do we do???
My father will be going to brunch or something with his family (which included my great grandmother that i dont see often bc she lives in florida) and I would like to join them. can FH and i separate the morning after the wedding??? or do we need to stick together and just eat alone and let our families fend for themselves???

If you are doing this, I think u NEED to be together...
WHY would u be SEPERATE the FIRST DAY you are married!?!!!!????!!!!

PLUS, FMIL doesnt has any obligation in paying.. this is somethign X u guys want to do!... U should just get together and either pay or not do it at all...
Im sorry if it sounds harsh but i think this is reality....

If u want to do soemting, then u need to come back with the budget or realize u cannot do it bc of $...

we arent paying for a seperate brunch the next day. what we are doing is setting a time to meet at the breakfast our hotel gives us the next morning so we can all eat together. can you do that? i mean your hotel should be giving you SOMETHING if you have 50 people staying!

agreed! do they offer anything? can they at least give you something towards a meal?

Re: morning after brunch

maybe this would work...

let your father tell his family about brunch and that he will be treating them....let your FH tell his family that you will both be having brunch at so and so restaurant at this time, and if they would like to make a reservation for brunch, to please call this number or something like that

FH's family can get their own tables if they want..and then you can all be together...

Go have brunch with your family with your FH. You should not separate from him. Tell FMIL that your dad is holding a brunch in your honor but cannot afford to pay for all of her family and neither can you. If he is holding a brunch it would be rude of you two not to go, but I guess it is also rude to your FH's family. It might put a sour taste in everyone's mouths very early on in your marriage since they were not invited. But definitely ask her again. Is it really all that many people not paid for by your dad? Can the brunch be done cheaper so you can maybe split the cost of FMIL's guests with her?

Re: morning after brunch

trust me i do NOT want to separate but my father and great grandmother are contributing a lot to this wedding (financially) and i feel like it will be a smack in the face if i dont at least join them for brunch (we are not doing a rehearsal dinner).
I do appreciate the harshness bc i guess we can work it into the budget somehow...i think im just more frustrated that his parents dont give a crap and dont want to help us out with anything whatsoever.
I do like the idea though of making reservations with my family and letting FH tell his family that is our plan and if they want to come let them make reservations...that might be the best option.
If i knew my dad wouldnt organize something i would be fine just having brunch with FH the morning after...but to know my family will be eating without me just seems doesnt feel right

the hotel has cheaper options but they are def overpriced. but we have people that wont have cars so my father wanted it to be convenient and worked out a price with them that was reasonable at the hotel. i dont want to ffer to pay for FMIL family/guests bc if anything i should pay for my family since they are at least doing stuff for me!!! Fh and i discussed that if we pay its all or nothing and after taking a count realized it is nothing. It seems FMIL's share of guests would be about 26 ppl so it is a lot to ask my parents to pay.

I understand all about family not wanting to help. Please have brunch your DH and your family. Invite FH family to come and let them pay for their meals. They will understand you are not paying for the brunch. Take pictures because looking back you might missed someone at the wedding but caught them at the brunch.
