FH and I are undecided and are running low on funds. Is it rude not to do it for out OOT guests? I plan on putting an OOT package in their rooms filled with munchies.
Thanks!

My sister had one, and a lot of people didn't make it, they wanted to get on the road, it ended up being mostly family. So maybe you could plan something low-key...

would it be in poor taste to 'meet up' at brunch, breakfast, not formalized and everyone pays their own??

no, I've been at weddings where we've done that, and I never even thought twice about it.

I think we are going to pass on it... It will cost too much and FH also thinks people are going to want to go home.
Thanks girls.. as always, you are so helpful!

Re: Morning After Brunch - is it necessary?
you certainly do NOT have to do it, though it is a nice gesture.
We did one, but kept it very low-key (immediate family and OOT'ers staying at the hotel only). We only did coffee/tea, bagels/rolls/assorted buns. No eggs or omletes or anything like that, because we didn't have the money for it. Our hotel worked with us, because it had to be within a certain amount or we wouldn't be able to do it. They really came through and we got to see our guests off the next day which was nice.

I don't think that you need to do a brunch for OOT guests. If they are all staying at the same hotel, try to find one that has a nice complimentary breakfast. At least this way they get another meal together.

We have done brunches in the past for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs as well as weddings. Mom really wants to do one and feels obligated to. I told her she does not have to feed the world for a weekend.

I don't think we are going to pay for one. I think it's fine. I am just hoping to meet up with everyone the next morning and i am also praying for momosas (sp?) since I will probably be hung over from the afterparty !!

Re: Morning After Brunch - is it necessary?
I don't think it's necessary, but it's a really nice touch. We've had that for all of the OOt weddings we've been to and it was very appreciated, and it makes making the trip seem all the more worthwhile. It's totally not necessary and not expected. A nice OOT goody bag is just fine, I would not, however have a brunch where you have people meet up and pay for their own. I don't like that idea. i think if you want to invite people to have brunch with you, they should not have to pay. Maybe there is a family member who would like to throw the brunch for you. My cousin's family had it at the house, or if the rooms are blocked at one hotel they may give you a good rate. it was so great to wake up, check out and have a nice brunch before hitting the road!

Can you do something at someone's house ? Bagels and pastries? Something simple, just to get people together to talk about the amazing night they had?

Re: Morning After Brunch - is it necessary?
I know its a little early-but we talked about this b/c we are out of state(SC) and we would have to decide on what we wanted to do. We decided we would probably do it at a close family friends house and just do bagels and donuts, etc. This way if people decide they want to just hit the road but would like to come by they can, but we are only going to do it for immediate family and OOTs

Re: Morning After Brunch - is it necessary?
We will not be having a brunch. Our parents aren't really interested and we don't have the patience to go planning another party right now. Also, we've done so much to try to give our guests a great time and we've shooped around for good rates at hotels and we will give a goodie bag. There may be a groomsman having an after party though!!

it is definitely not required and it is definitely not rude to not have one! don't feel badly about it - so many people don't have one. its really a personal decision.

Re: Morning After Brunch - is it necessary?
FH's mom is insistent on having one.
we're doing a hot brunch at the hotel ($10.95 pp) which isn't bad....and she's paying for it. it's only close family and OOT guests staying at the hotel. they'll get a coupon upon check-in inviting them to the brunch at 10am the next day. whoever redeems the coupon--FH's mom will pay. any unused coupons she doesn't pay for.
i think it's a nice touch especially for guests who came from far.

That sounds great and really reasonable. Do you mind me asking which hotel?

Re: Morning After Brunch - is it necessary?
NO NEED AT ALL. I think weddings are getting OUT OF HAND IMO. :)
We already have enough things to stress about. Now theres more things... No way. Dont worry about it. Noone is going to expect it. If you want people to meet you out for breakfast just casually say where youre going and if they show they show, if they dont they dont.
