Morning After Pill (Update and question at bottom)
Original post by jessamyn78
Someone close to me has gotten herself into a predicament. She is a teenager. She is on birth control, but forgot her pill yesterday, and took 2 today. She had sex and the condom broke. Her period is set to come on Monday. Should she take the morning after pill?

UH NO. I have done it before and taken 2 the next day and its fine. How long has she been on Birth Control, if its more than 3 months she should be fine. Just call the GYN.

Re: Morning After Pill
She has been on for a few years because of her cysts.

Re: Morning After Pill
So, she woke up today and does not want to take the Morning After Pill. The doctor said it was up to us since I can get it over the counter. Am I wrong for telling her it will be ok?

I would take her to PP and have her speak to someone about her options. If she hears it from a professional, she might re-think taking the map.

she will be fine, i have skipped up to three days. . . skipping one day when you have been on the pill for years is going to happen sometimes, its not ideal but there is such a tiny chance that she could be pregnant, i think that she will be fine.
if she doesnt want to take the MAP just make sure she keeps track of her cycle - as long as she has someone like you to help her out, she will be fine!

Thanks. I'm really freaking out over this. She is in Staten Island and I'm in Long Island.

Re: Morning After Pill (Update and question at bottom)
if she had sex the same day that she doubled up on her pills, it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE that she got pregnant
she wouldnt even BE pregnant yet it takes 7-10 days for sperm and egg to meet and fertilize

She did have sex that same day. She is also in the 3rd week of her cycle, so she is past ovulation.

The chances are slim, but it is wonderful that she and you are so responsible. I'd call the dr, but not to stress too much. I took Plan B once a couple of years ago with no side effects.I'd def call the dr., have the dr. paged.

I just read the insert to my pills and it says that if you miss 1 pill, to take it as soon as you remember and that you do not need to use a back-up form of birth control. So, she should be fine.
