I just got off the phone with DH, he got to work 1 hour late b/c he was towing people out of puddles on the Northern State (he drives a very large pick -up).

Re: Morning Commute

that was awful. i think that was my worst commute ever and i had a lot of bad ones when i lived in dc. it usually takes me 40 minutes, today 1 hr and 40 minutes. my biggest problem was that there were no announcements! if i had known what was and wasn't running i could have gotten in so much quicker. they need to work on that.

3 hours! 3 hours!

And NO ONE to help out --- not a freakin traffic officer ... not a freakin MTA employee .... ONCE AGAIN, IT WAS A FEND FOR YOURSELF KIND OF DAY ....

It really scares me that something as simple too much rain can cause that much chaos ... I completely understand about flooding ... but NO ONE around to HELP or direct the masses just doesn't give me ANY confidence in this city.

I was on Queens Blvd with hundreds of people ... buses refused to stop, bus drivers were kicking people off of their buses and going out of service ....

God help us if something ever happens in this city again ...

There was nothing on the Amber Signs??? What the hell did we pay all that $$ for

Re: Morning Commute

LOL.... I started my commute from Bell Blvd to Union Turnpike. Union Tpke. was bumper to bumper around Francis Lewis. I was then going to take the F train to find out it was suspended from 179st to Forest Hills.

I then turned around and went back home. Called the boss up and told him I was working from home.

It helps when you tell the boss this, and he is 2hrs late himself coming into work.

Feels nice sitting at home. But I do have to get some work done here.

With the amount of delays there were today... you would need a 500ft amber sign to hold all the information.

The XM Radio Traffic report was like 10 minutes long.

We should start an LIW neighborhood carpool in case of transit problems. Brad and I could have taken other Forest Hills people to the city today...i felt guilty driving in with just the two of us!

What time do you take the train? I usually get to the station between 7:45 - 8:00 a.m. (depending on alternate side rules!)

I tried to drive in today and it was a total mess. Union Turnpike was one huge parking lot. So was Francis Lewis Blvd and the LIE.

oh i know the signs you're talking about now. i was talking about in the subway there were no announcements, or at least nothing you could understand. it was really frustrating.

Oh, sorry. I didn't know you were in the subway!

I don't think I ever heard an announcement in the subway that I could understand
