Morning schedule for those with pups!

Morning schedule for those with pups!

Just wondering how you guys who work and have puppies handle your morning schedule. DH for a long time was home and could deal with our pup in the morning, but now he'll be busy and I'm going to have to get our 3 month old pup fed/walked/watered and played with by the time I leave at 6:50 am! Does anyone else have to do this, too?
I have no self discipline and getting up in the morning keeps getting more difficult, even though I know I need to get up!

Also, I'm guilty of snooze button abuse - how do you break the habit??

I had to do this to and catch a 659 train every morning.. i was up at 4am!!! it was a KILLER!!! the best was when she started eating only once a day... it became much easier..

do you feed the dog in the crate? is the dog crate trained?

You could put the food out, shower...then walk him then wile you get your hair done you could give him a toy that he is ONLY allowed to play with at that time of the morning.. and then your off!

Re: Morning schedule for those with pups!

She's somewhat crate trained. This morning, I fed her at 6, in the crate, took a shower, then went to get ready and by the time I got dressed and came downstairs to take her out she had pooped in her crate!!! Sometimes she poops right after eating, but like last night, it was 4 hrs!! And this morning, she had just pooped at like 4:15 am, so I didn't rush to get ready to take her out. So now I'm trying to reevaluate how to deal with my mornings.
The trainer said she should be kept in her crate once she's done eating for 15 mins so she can 'digest'. But that seems like when she has accidents!

Any one else have my dilemma out there? Or remember how they handled the morning w/ pups?

Its going to be tough for the next 2-3 months...and then not so bad for the next 6...but it will get better...

what kind of step up do you have...I know that the childrens gates work well...you can have the crate...a wee wee pad...some toys and their water within the fenced in area..

but remember it DOES get better...

you may want to think about getting your exercise in the morning...and running with the dog...it will surely tire her out

Re: Morning schedule for those with pups!

yabbobay, we have a crate. the trainer advised not giving her more space until she learned not to pee/poop in her crate. Which is why we feed her in there, too, because pups are not supposed to pee/poop in the area where they sleep and eat but nobody told my pup that!
I am going to get up earlier (how much earlier can I get up, geez) and feed her and exercise her before I even get in the shower. And then take her out one more time before leaving work.
I wish DH had more patience with her, though I must admit I was screaming this morning!
