Morning Wedding

Morning Wedding

Would you go to a 10am wedding on Memomrial Day weekend Sunday? FH and I are not in agreement and I wanted to know what you ladies think. Be honest - I want to know what you REALLY think. Thanks!

What time would the CH start? You probably won't get a lot of people going to the ceremony. IMO it's early, but that's for me. You do what you think is best for you.

To be 100% honest with you, I'd probably skip the ceremony...but I agree - when would the cocktail hour start? If it's at 12:30pm or 1pm I'd definitely make that...

ETA: It's not that it's early at all, our ceremony is at 9:30...it's the fact that it's Memorial Day weekend that would prob make it hard for me to get there before 12...

That's the thing. Most of my planning has centered around the ceremony. It's going to be very personal and spiritual. I think it matters to me more than the CH or reception.

I would most likely not make the ceremony...

It depends on how close I am with the couple. If it was someone I'm close with then I'd be there no matter what time the ceremony was!! But say, it's a distant relative or just a co-worker, or if it's a far driving distance, I'd prob skip the ceremony.

ETS: I went to Betsy's (ewickens) wedding last year, her ceremony was at 10:30am and they had a lot of people at the church.

It depends on how close I am to the person but, if you want everybody to be there maybe have it in the afternoon or evening

Re: Morning Wedding

i say if it's an important person i'd be there. but as a bride, i think that will be stressful for you. im getting married at 11:30 and already have to be up at 4 to get everyone ready. so you'll be up pretty early.

I'd be happier and my hair would be dry if you moved it to 11.

I guess it all depends on how far I have to travel. Being on the East End, Memoral day weekend traffic SUX out here.

honestly, regardless of time or day it depends if i would go to the ceremony PERIOD!!! if im not very close to the couple i don't go to the ceremony, even if its in the afternoon

Re: Morning Wedding

Is the ceremony right before the CH, or is there a break in between? I don't think I'd go to a ceremony that early unless the recpeption was immediately afterwards. (Unless it was a sibling or very close friend).

Yes. I would go.. curious though, what does the day have to do with it?

IMHO: No. By the time we woke up and got ready and got to the church, we would have to wake up at like 6am.

I'm the type of person that would attend the ceremony, no matter what time it was.

Same here.

My mass was at 10:30am and most people were there and we had lots of folks traveling far.

I think it's fine. Our ceremony starts @ 11am I think there will probably be a few less people there since it is so early but the really important people will be there (not that everyones not important) but if people want to be there, they will.

Honestly, I don't like the holiday/wedding day. FH and I tend to use it wisely but taking some good R&R. Last year, we skipped an invitation (but sent a gift) for a labor day wedding.

Re: Morning Wedding

i believe that the time doesn't matter because the people who truely want to be there will be there.. but honestly, i'd be bitching about how early it was.. but thats just me. i'm not a morning kind of girl!!

I would go, although I think that's too early for guests. The fact that it's on a holiday weekend is a double strike, I'm afraid.

Re: Morning Wedding

We got married at 10am on a Saturday and the church was PACKED! We couldn't believe how many people showed up so early! The only downfall I could see is that a lot of people go to BBQ's and parties on holiday weekends, so not many people will want to get up early for a wedding the next morning. If it were any other weekend, I think you'd get a better turn out. But, the important people in your lives will be there no matter what time your service is, so it is a choice you and your DH have to make.
