Re: Morning weddings....
I guess because morning and afternoon are not supposed to be as formal. Nowadays, especially in NY, you can be very formal for a morning wedding.
I was married at 12:30pm and had a chapel train dress.

I had a morning wedding and I had a long train. I've never heard of that. If you love your dress, the who cares what other people say.

Re: Morning weddings....
i think that it doesn't matter what the bride wears... it's your day and it is a given that it is going to be a formal gown. my dress is chapel length with a cathedral length veil...
however, i do think you can't really ask people to come in black tie at a morning wedding... the timing isn't right.... you can ask formal though.

Right--men are supposed to wear morning coats, that's where the name comes from!

Completely agree.
The BP should be wearing morning coats, not tuxes...

Re: Morning weddings....
Here's a pic of a traditional morning suit:
My cousin had a morning wedding and he and the groomsmen all wore morning suits... I don't think it matters what the bride wears, but it's more appropriate for men to wear morning suits to a morning wedding, not tuxes.
That said, I think you can do whatever you want. I would have morning suits for a morning wedding, though... not tuxes.
I also think black tie is inappropriate for a morning wedding.
