however, i do think you can't really ask people to come in black tie at a morning wedding... the timing isn't right.... you can ask formal though.

Completely agree.

The BP should be wearing morning coats, not tuxes...

no they don't! my BP wore tuxes and looked great. regardless of the name 'morning coat' it is NOT REQUIRED and will NOT look bad if you have a tux AT ALL.

i agree regarding not having black tie

I have to admit that I am not a fan of this morning coat that I have just learned about...I had a morning wedding and if I did it again I would still 100% put our GM in tuxes...IMO this most definately falls under the personal choice category...just like tea length vs. full legnth for the BM and basically everything else that happens on your day

Totally agree. DH and his BM wore tux and they did not look out of place at all.

It's entirely up to you. But trust me... Plenty of brides 'ALREADY' married here had men wear tux in their wedding. And it looked perfect!

Read the rest of my posts... I said 'That said, you can do whatever you want.'

IMO, I'd have a morning coat for a morning wedding. Other brides can do whatever they want!

I am having a morning ceremony & a daytime reception ending at 6 & I am having a train as well as a cathedreal veil-- I wouldn't worry about it

You can do whatever you want--it's just that old-fashioned etiquette says men are supposed to wear morning suits. This thread supposedly was about what you're 'supposed' to do. I'm having a morning wedding, and the guys are wearing dark suits. I doubt they're even going to match, although I hope to get them in semi-matching ties or perhaps waistcoats. My nephew will be an usher and I think he's wearing full formal Scottish dress of kilt, sporran, jacket, cap, long socks and sgian dubh (knife.) He's twelve and ridiculously cute and orginal. I absolutely adore that kid. Do what you want, in other words. It's your wedding, and these days, whatever goes!
