Mortage Questions...SWR ..should i wait till marriage?
I want to prepare FH for the idea of buying a house. I have some questions first. What are the pros to buying now? Is there a difference if FH and I get pre-approved now or should be wait until the wedding and be married???
Is there a difference?!?!? Help
What is the easiest way to get pre-approved?
THANKS!

I can tell you that as far as signing for the title, it gets tricky when you aren't married. It's easier for one person to buy and the title to be in his/her name now and then when you get married, it's easy to add on a spouse.

I never thought that was an option!

The title to our home is in both our names, with 'survivor' rights - the same thing as couples that are actually married.
Interest rates are really low right now. There are a lot of homes on the market, which gives you as a buyer some negotiating room (and a lot of options!) FH and I bought a house now, and I think it was the smartest thing we did. I know exactly what I need, and can register for it.

We bought our house 3 week before the wedding. There is no problem with having both names on the title, just make sure the lawyers and bank draw up the paper work properly both our names are on the title. After the wedding I sne a notorozed copy of the marriage license to the bank and lawyer and everythign was changed to my married name.
As for buying now or later. Legally and losigstics wise there is no difference. But STRESS WISE......Buying a house is very stressful even if you have a perfectly smooth process. It can be a PITA but there was something nice about coming to OUR HOME after hte honeymoon as husband and wife!

This is what FH and I did when we closed last month. If anything happens to the us, the other gets the house. Whether we get married or not.
The interest rates are good now, especially if you have good credit.

We bought our house before we were even engaged. There was no problem with the title or the mortgage being in both of our names. It cant hurt to look now as long as the both of you are comfortable with buying a house now. Good Luck!
