I love hearing about unique and non-traditional ideas that make weddings personal and memorable. So tell me: what's the most non-traditional element to yours?

Our ceremony will have some 'diferent' elements not seen at all weddings.
Our minister has a different format of saying things.
Our BP will not be in the ceremony 'limelight'. My Minister ONLY wants the three of us standing together during the ceremony.
There are more details.... too many to name but it WILL be different and I CAN'T wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Most non-traditional element of your wedding?
Well I am not getting married in a church. I am OBVIOUSLY not a virgin, considering that FH and I already have 2 kids, live together and own a house. My 2 sons will be walking me down the aisle instead of my dad (father is deceased). I will not be walking down the aisle to canon in D or any other wedding march... it will be contemporary music sung by a close friend. I will be dancing with my dad's best friend for the father/daughter dance and I am having very few 'portrait' style pictures taking - opting for an almost purely photojournalistic approach to photography for my wedding. I will be having a lot of kids and 2 babysitters at my wedding. I will be wearing stripper shoes under my dress and I don't think I am going to wear a veil...
I think that about sums up the non-traditional parts of my day!

Everything we are doing is pretty traditional. We are having a fall theme though so there will be a lot of pumpkins and leaves, so that's a little different. I don't want any white, only ivory or off white. My cake will be offwhite with leaves, acorns, pumpkins and twigs on it, and Mr. Met might come...I guess it's a little different after all!!

We are having a bus for the BP, immediate family and US to go from the wedding to the hall.
We are having cigar rollers at the cocktail hour.
We are not introducing our parents.
We are doing a mother/son dance but instead of a father/daughter (dad just passed) we are doing a smith woman dance (me, mom and my six sisters)

Guilt as well. We're not marrying in a church rather at Jericho Terrace. Instead of throwing rose petals my FG will be throwing leaves (theme of wedding). I'm not wearing a tiara. I 'm planning on spending the entire cocktail hour and wedding in ballet slippers or maybe even barefoot.

This reminds me of Miranda on Sex & the City! Remember when she was getting married after having had a child...looking for a dress and she says:
'I said, 'no white, no ivory, no nothing that says 'virgin.'' I have a child. The jig is up.'
Just made me think of that quote...
Otherwise, who cares, we all be wearing white no matter what they say!! That old tradition is SO out the window!

That's the goal. I'm not fun to be around when I'm uncomfortable. Since FH and i are paying for entire wedding we're not answering to anyone about anything. It's what we want as we want it!

I too will be wearing white 'inappropriately' I suppose...not that my parents know that! um...other than that it's pretty tradional...except that I won't be introduced as Mr. & Mrs. (His first name here) LastName. I am my own person. Say my name too!

Re: Most non-traditional element of your wedding?
Sorry to crash your board but i have to this is too good of a post.
Non-Traditional Elements: 1) No church - sorry can't afford to be married in the good old catholic church - i remember a time religion was free or a donation!
2) No Limos (a car service or taxi at night since many people will be tipsy)
3) Guinness will be served
4) Man of Honor instead of Maid of Honor for me
5) Our intro song is Riegn In Blood by Slayer into (most likely) a Tori Amos cover of Led Zepplins Thank You for our first dance.
6) Music will be varied having songs of metal, old classic rock, punk/celtic, and some odds and ends. No house music or rap to be allowed!
7) Many tattoo sporting individuals on FH side - my family very proper people so the non traditional family combo that should make for a very interesting night IoI
