Need your help! My sis and her husband want to take a well deserved one week vacation sometime in May- probably mid may. They live in NYC and would like to go somewhere other than the East Coast faves such as Boston,Florida, Rhode Island, Maine etc as they have been there before....any ideas? TIA PS. They like the sun but would like something other than a typical resort where you just lie by the pool all week.

Sedona is great, I agree. So are Napa and Sonoma in CA for wine tasting. We had a great time there, plus it's really close to San Francisco where there are tons of great restaurants and things to do since they're going for a week.

Napa w/ a few days in San Francisco is a great trip! You can do wine tastings and spa's for a few days then visit San Fran, which is a great city! You can also go to Carmel and the 18 mile (I think that's right) drive along the coast

I was going to suggest both Sedona and Napa. Sedona will definitely be warmer in May. Here are some pics from when I was there in September, I LOVE it there!!!
Napa is gorgeous and so much fun as well but it definitely will not be as warm in May.

Hotel del Coronado in San Diego!!!!
Hotel del Coronado is very beautiful, and right near San Diego and La Jolla. I would actually recommend stayin in La Jolla over Hotel del Coronada...there are AMAZING views, great hotels on the water, and there is a little town with art shops and fun things to do. We went there 2 Octobers ago and had a blast. FH told me (after we got engaged a few months later) that he had planned the trip to propose to me there, but then he couldn't afford the last ring payment in time :) We're going back to the area for my spring break in 2 weeks, can't wait!

Charleston is a gorgeous city, on the water, and lots of old homes and charm.
