Mother/Daughter usually refers to a house that has an apartment but is only considered legal if you apply for the proper permits. Even then, it's only 'legal' is you to 'rent' to family...thus the Mother/Daughter. At least that was the way it was explained to me...
A house that is in an area where legal apartments are allowed - such as Huntington - will list it as 'legal accessory apartment' or some such thing.
