Mother of the Bride Dresses

Mother of the Bride Dresses

I want last Saturday with my mom for her dress. She is set on wearing a grey/silver gown.. We went to Davids Bridal.. All the dresses she picked could not be ordered because they were being discontinued.. So we went to Macy's, JC Penny, and Bloomies in Roosevelt Field and nothing in her colors!!

So where did your mom's get their gowns.. I know I asked some of you already and your answers were added to her hunt list.. Thanks!

I should add taht my mom is an 18-20 so a store with a great selection in plus size gowns would be ideal! Thanks again ladies!

My mom is also plus size - she bought hers at Village Bridal, where I got my dress. There is a pic in my album. She is extremely picky and found that the selection there was really nice. Good luck!

That is such a pretty gown!! I told my mom she should wear Navy because teh Navy selection in pretty gowns seems to be huge for MOB's but she refuses because my girls are in Marine.. I really am not seeing the big deal.. I do not have sisters so the bridal party will prob not be in any pictures with my mom but still she is refusing:( that is a lil frustrating.. I know she can rock a Navy Gown..LOL

Thank you by the way.. We will most def be checking out Village Bridal. I even told her the department stores should be getting in their Holiday party gowns and I hope silver is in this year.. LOL

thanks!!

i wish my mom had gotten this dress in navy - she didn't because my BMs are in navy. she chose eggplant, which was another dark color available. Village will be able to show you swatches and help her to choose the best color - what was funny was my mom sounds like yours ... VERY set on something (in her case having SLEEVES) and then she decides on a dress that only has cap sleeves! so who knows!

i would ask for krissy when you go there (my consultant when I bought my gown)... or there is another girl with an accent who helped my mom (for the life of my I cannot remember her name) - she was SO patient and helpful, and didn't make my mom feel awkward or uncomfortable at all (which I was really worried about).

If it's not already on your list, I would try Lord and Taylor. My aunt is plus sized and for both of her daughters weddings, she got her dresses at L&T. Good luck!

Trust me, be happy she doesn't want to wear something so close to what your girls are wearing! My MIL wore navy (my girls were in navy), and I wasn't thrilled, but she loved it and that was all that really mattered to me.

Check out TOTALLY YOU in Bellemore. We had a great experience there with my mother's dress.

My mom found a dress she loves at Bayshore Bridal, though I didn't think the selection was plentiful. She will order her dress along with my girls dresses through netbride.com. We used them for my sisters wedding and everything turned out great!

Thanks for the heads up.. I was actually upset with FMIL.. My mom told her she wanted to wear a grey/ silver.. FMIL buys a dress adn tell me the color is charcoal but it is really more of a smoky light blue.. I was like no not the color my mother wanted grr. but the dress does not fit right so she is back to square one.. i told her stay away from Greys til my mom gets hers LOL..
Thanks for all the suggestions ladies!!

Never been there, but there is a place in Merrick called Queen Of Hearts and their size startes at 14, I believe its in Merrick Avenue. Maybe she will have luck there.

I went there with my mother. Just beware they are. VERY pricey, when we told them my mothers budget, the basically laughed at us.
