My FMIL tells me that it's tradition that the mother of the groom wears blue and the mother of the bride is to wear pink.
I have never heard such a thing.
Is it some custom I haven't heard of? Maybe a Spanish or Hispanic one?
I told her that I will not tell my mother what color she is going to wear and she will wear what she feels comfortable & looks good in. My mother hates pink.
Anyone know of this?

Re: Mother of the Bride & Groom question...
I googled it. Nothing.
So I went to a co-worker who is form the same Hispanic bacground as her and asked her if she ever heard of such a thing . The woman looked at me like I had two heads and said 'Where did you come up with that crazy idea?'
I'm assuing my FMIL is completely way far back old fashioned or is trying to find some control in the wedding.
She can wear blue if she likes but my mom will not be wearing pink! If this upsets FMIL then.... oh well!

Never heard of it...and as far as it maybe being a Latin tradition, I'm Cuban and I can say that it's not a Cuban tradition (at least not one that I know of). At my wedding my Mom wore Bronze and MOG wore a metallicy brown (I know the two colors sound really the same, but they were different, I am just bad at describing).

NEVER heard of this and never seen the MOB and MOG wearing these color combos at a wedding.
I let the mothers pick whatever they wanted

My FMIL won't be at the wedding, and I told my mother to wear whatever she's comfortable in. I trust her enough not to wear anything funky. But i never heard of that Blue & Pink thing.

Never heard of this at all. To me the MOB picks what she wantsto wear & the MOg picks after her so that they dont have the same color or clash.

Mine will have the same color... whats the biggie? I mom picked black (which i happened to pick for her) and once i showed FMIL, she said she wanted to wear black also... I think its all about what they feel best in

Re: Mother of the Bride & Groom question...
I'm Cuban and did here of this pink and blue thing from other latin individuals, but even if I love pink my mom is my mom and the BM dress were pink, so that would have been too much pink Plus my mom should wear what she wants to wear. (I choose two dresses for her Coral for church and black for reception). She looked beautiful. MOG also wore two dresses. Of course, I think the MOB should be the first to pink out the color of her dress and then the MOG. MOG wore blue to the church but I don't know if it was due to latin tradition. Let your mom wear what she wants and looks good in, of course you opinion counts

I think both moms should wear what they like (long as its not all flashy or white, lol). If his mom wasn'ts to wear blue I don't really care. I'm not even going to bring this issue up with her again. She'll see what my mom decides to wear the day of the wedding, that's how it is.
Sometimes I think she only brought it up cause I had mentioned my mother's favorite color is blue.

You wouldn't want them wearing the same color. The problem is that my mom didn't know what color she was going to get, because it all depends on the style of dress she picks, and as you know certain dresses have limited colors. I think MOG waited for my mom to get her dresses to then get hers so that they would not wear the same color. At least she was concious of letting my mom choose first. Your MIL probably mentioned it as her choice, but bottom line if your mom wants blue and if you dont want them both with the same color you should tell her to wait because your mom might consider buying a blue dress. She has to understand, MOB come first. I made my mom buy 3 gowns. I first chose an ivory gown with splash of corla and brown. I don't beleive anyone else should wear white or ivory, but in my case I didn't care because it's my mom and she looked gorgeous. Thing was she didn't want to wear the 1st dress I chose because 'traditionally only the bride wears white/ivory.' But I feel that it being my wedding I do not have to follow the 'tradition' if I didn't want to, but my mom would not have felt comfortable so in the end she got coral. GL w/the Mom dresses!

I have never heard of this, I always heard MOB picks first than MOG.
