My FMIL tells me that it's tradition that the mother of the groom wears blue and the mother of the bride is to wear pink.
I have never heard such a thing.
Is it some custom I haven't heard of? Maybe a Spanish or Hispanic one?
I told her that I will not tell my mother what color she is going to wear and she will wear what she feels comfortable & looks good in. My mother hates pink.
Anyone know of this?

Hahaha...that sounds like a baby shower!!
As far as I know, the MOB chooses her dress, then the MOG chooses her dress afterwards so they don't have the same color.
I think MOB has first dibs...
(Or at least that's what my mom thinks!!!!)

They wear whatever they/you want. Both moms wore black at my wedding, but so did my BM's...I wanted everyone 'important' in black. So no, blue and pink...i have no idea where she got that.

I am glad that someone else is doing this. ALl my bridesmaids, my mom, my stepmom and my FMIL are also all wearing black! The guys will all be in tuxes and I will be in my pretty dress! I think the pictures will look amazing!

I just told them both that I'd like to see what they plan on buying (I'd go shopping with them both seperately). I'd like to have a say in what they may wear but won't tell them to wear something they don't want.

FMIL had told FSIL that she might wear white to my wedding I will no joke make her go home & change, if there ceremony begins without he it's her own fault

I've never heard of that. The only thing I've heard of is MOB picks her dress out first and MOG picks a different color unless bride/MOB want otherwise, and picks something of equal fancy-ness (no short dress if MOB is wearing a gown, etc) but a little less WOW-factor.
It's possible that the blue/pink thing is a cultural norm, but this is the first time I've heard of it.

I was thinking that too but I'm finding it hard to believe no one else on here has heard of it either. I'm starting to think she's making it up. But I will do some google research on this. Thanks :)

I heard of that. I think that is what they did a long time ago. No one really does that anymore.
i have heard of that too...very old fashioned... it recently was on bridezilla...remember the pink mob with the slinky dress with lots of cleavage...LOL
i think the only rule of thumb is that mob gets first pick..then mog
