My FH's mother died about 10 or so years back and i was wondering if it is a tradition to do a mother-son dance? If so....who should my FH dance with? My mom kinda took him in (we've been friends since age 12), but i don't think that would look right with him dancing with my mom. What about his older sister who is about 10 years older, i kinda like that idea....any opinons?
Also, what is TWOTY???? Is it like the awesome 80s prom? I'm confused!

Re: Mother-Son Dance? Is there one?
it is sort of a tradition but I wouldn't say it was mandatory that you do one. I'd say in your case, I think the idea of FH dancing with his older sister would be a very nice idea, especially if they have a close relationship.

Re: Mother-Son Dance? Is there one?
I like the idea of him dancing with his sister if they are very close. I'll tell you what I'm doing.... My father was a typical dead-beat dad so he has been *** my ENTIRE life. However my grandfather (who has passed) and 3 of my uncles have really assumed the role. I'm probably closer to my uncles than most - but fam in general is super close. So instead of nixing the whole father daughter dance, I'm going to arraneg it with my DJ to have each of my 3 uncles rotate in and dance with me. I have not a clue what song to pick but I think it would be a great gesture and its very important for me to acknowledge how close they are to me! I'll have the DJ say somethign along the lines of ' the bride would like to call up her unlces Joe, Ralph, and Ross to the dance floor...for this very important uncle - neice dance' or something I don't kow!

Amber - i completely LOVE your idea to dance with your Uncles!!!! I totally think your DJ will help you pick a song...i kinda **** at thinking of things like that hehe.
My FH is pretty close to his sister, basically she mothered him after his real mother passed. So i think that would be a nice idea.
Thanks guys!

I'm doing something similar. My dad passed when I was 12 so I will be dancing with my Mom (Regina Belle-If I could) but also want to acknowledge my brothers and brother in-law for assuming the role of dad. I'm using My Wish-rascal flatts and will dance with each brother for a lil bit during the song. May even throw my sister int he mix too! lol

Re: Mother-Son Dance? Is there one?
I think a sister dance would be fine
And TWOTY is a mock wedding put on by LIW.com where they pick a newlywed bride and groom and people on this site buy tickets 'invite' and attend like a regular wedding. All the stuff is donated by vendors i.e. favors, centerpieces, cake, dress, etc.
