MOTHERLESS DAUGHTERS............................

MOTHERLESS DAUGHTERS............................

As you all know I am planning this wedding without my Beloved Mommy....
I know she is in my heart and always with me, but it still is very difficult.
In fact living day to day I remember Mommy every single day and think about her all the time.

Luckily in discovering LIWeddings, I have also discovered many other 'Motherless Daughters' who share my sorrow and experiences.

Princess99 is also a Motherless Daughter. We have been talking in length about starting a group for Motherless Daughters to get together, talk about our experiences, give each other support, and cry on each other's shoulders. Maybe in doing so, we will help strengthen each other and also make some lifelong friends. We can talk about ways to remember our Mothers in our weddings, in our marraige, and even in the upbringing of our own children. Basically in everyday life, before and after marraige.

Our hope is that we can fill some of the emptiness we all feel, especially by being with others in our situation who understand and feel our pain.

Princess99 had once recommended to me a book called Motherless Daughters, that I bought for myself and since for many others.
Since then she came up with the idea of a group and we've been discussing it and think it's a great idea.

If you do also, and want to be a part of our group, let us know. You can respond to this thread, FM either Princess99 or myself, and let us know your thoughts. Any thoughts and ideas for the group are welcome.

Liz and Sue

EDIT TO SAY:
That I would also like to open this up to those who lost their Father or a Grandparent as well. If you feel you can benefit from this, please feel free to join. We are here for everyone

Re: MOTHERLESS DAUGHTERS............................

I own both the Motherless Daughters books and think they are just wonderful.
I would LOVE to be part of this group--I think it's a wonderful idea. It's quite possibly one of the most difficult things I will have ever had to go through in my life-My mother passed away from breast cancer when I was 21. Obviously, death never comes at the right time but my father is someone who I don't want to be around and I've really needed my mom so many times over the past 8 years.
Count me in please...
All my love to fellow Motherless Daughters!!

does it count if the 'sperm donor' is still living, just non-existent in your life and never has been?

I've lost both my parents. And the days aren't getting easier. But, I live with the hope that I will see them again. My wedding day will not be easy to get through with out my parents being there. but, they'll be there in spirit!!

Hugs to you all!!

Liz- you wanted to know how people are including their moms in their wedding: here's a story for you, if you don't mind me sharing??
my Dad's cousin passed away when her kids were in high school. 2 years ago one of her daughters was getting married. To honor her mom they had the wedding on her birthday, the flowers that were left at the receptioon hall were taken to her mom's resting place.
Recently they had a baby, it is a girl and they named her after her mom.
i guess everyone will honor their moms/dads differently, but i wanted to share.

Thank YOu all
Steph, thanks for posting tht. I intend on laying my bridal bouquet by my Mother.
I am also naming my first girl after my Mom as well

Deb, to answer your question. I feel if you feel you are missing a parent, whatever the situation, then you count. If you feel the need to talk, give and get support, then count yourself in !!!!!!!

I will be FMing some ideas soon, and hoping to get feedback. We are also 100% open to ideas.
Thanks again

Re: MOTHERLESS DAUGHTERS............................

I lost my grandmother (my Bubbie) in January. It was very sudden. I was told she had cancer and she would have only a few months to live. The few months was a week. She died a week after I was told. It hasnt been easy on me or my dad, especially now with Passover being here.

What I am doing to honor her at my wedding is I am wearing her pearls, a handkerchief of hers wrapped around the stems of my bo-k, and putting her and my grandfathers wedding picture up with a bo-k that was similiar to hers when she and him got married.

Maybe something like that could be a way of honoring your mothers on your wedding day.

Re: MOTHERLESS DAUGHTERS............................

To honor my loved ones I am wearing my mothers engagement ring on a necklace. I'm having 3 red roses in the middle of my bouquet (My Mother, Father & Nana) John is having a red rose added to his bout for his Father. I will have my Nana's hankie. I will pin a locket to my bra that has my parents wedding photo in it. We will have both parents wedding photos on the placecard table.

Melissa and Tracy...
I love what you are both doing in memory of your loved ones.

Liz: I did the same with my bouquet for my mom, I know she would have loved the flowers!

And I also named my daughter after my mom. She has my mom's first name as her middle name.

Re: MOTHERLESS DAUGHTERS............................

Nancy that's the way I'm doing the names too

I will try and find a hankie of my mothers to put on my bo-k.
The Pastor will dedicate the ceremony to her, and I will light the Memory candle for her.
I am using Peach flowers, her absolute Favorite
I am also putting a Memory page in the program for her and all our lost loved ones.

Re: MOTHERLESS DAUGHTERS............................

I am having her bridal hanky wrapped around my bouquet, and putting my throw away bouquet on both my mom and dads resting place. The florist told me he is going to make me an exact replica to put by the resting place. I am also going to put the bible my mom used when she married my dad in my bouquet as I walk down the aisle, and also a very small wedding pic of them in my bouquet, that way it will be like they are walking me dowm the aisle.
I never realized how many of us there are on this board.
Feel free also to mail me your ideas, thoughts, or if anyone wants to talk. '
Hugs to u all!
