Both of my mother's have already picked their dresses and their colors and they both fell in love with the same color. There is a slight difference as one's dress has a gold accent to it and the other one has a silver accent to it. Do you think it is super weird that they are wearing the same color? Physically they look completely different (different hair, height, etc.) so I am hoping it will be okay. Also, one will have a jacket while the other will have sleeves. I know it's already done and that I shouldn't worry about it but I can't help it because, well, i'm a more than just a sligtly neurotic bride (LOL)!

Don't worry about it. As long as it isn't the same dress in the same color you are okay.

As long as they don't care I think it is fine. I hope my moms get similar colors.

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
Thank you so much for your response! I feel so much better now. It's just such a beautiful color and they both fell in love with it. Also, with my mom's dress it only looked good in one other color which would have completely blended with my bridesmaid but that would have left my FML being the 'oddball' out and we didn't want to do that to her either. The dresses are different. The are both silk satin but all my girls and myself are in teh same material too. Isn't it amazing the things we stress out over? The sad thing is that until i was a bride i could not comprehend at all the way brides were! I have come to the conclusion that being a bride is much like a disease that you become inflicted with and you can't help but let it take total control over you and the only known cure is an awesome honeymoon! I think every 5 minutes i think something 'bridey' I only hope my work doesn't realize how much time i really spend snooping around the bridal web sites instead of working!

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
Are the mother's dresses supposed to match the bridesmaid and MOH colors? Thanks

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
I think, but am not sure that they are supposed to be different from the bridal party and if you want to match someone to the girls its supposed to be the groomsmen. I'm not positive though.

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
I was about to ask the same question about the mothers dresses matching. My mom is walking me down the aisle and I want her to wear a color in the color scheme of the BP. My FI mother is in Florida and I cannot put any stipulation on her about what to wear. My mother is still on the hunt for her dress.

Don't worry about it. I'm sure they will both look fine and I'm sure they will get pleanty of complements.

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
I think there is supposed to be a matching color scheme. My bridesmaids are wearing silver and charcoal (a darker silverish gray) and i think the moms will wear charcoal. The groomsmen will match also.

I personally think it looks beautiful when the bridal party's colors compliment/match the mothers.

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
I wouldn't worry about it at all. My friend's mother in-law decided to wear a WHITE dress to her wedding. Imagine that. My friend was mortified.

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
Speaking of MOB dresses...anyone have any suggestions? My mom and I went to the place where I got my dress and encountered farty, sequined, sparkly dresses that weighed a ton and were so not my Mom's style. We also went to L&T and found nothing there either. My mom isn't the type to just slip into anything either, and she wants something very plain!
Any suggestions?

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
Both Bridal Reflections have great selections. Also 'My Daughter's Wedding'in Great Neck but they can be more expensive. Entoto in Great Neck across from Leonards is good too.

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
My mother got her dress from Entoto in Great Neck for my sister's wedding last year. She was very happy with the service and the selections they had.

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
My mom is wearing a champagne/gold color and my FMIL is wearing silver/grey. My BM dresses are Victorian Lilac.

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
Try Sugarplum in Baldwin or Lynbrook and Totally You in Merrick. My mom's best friend went looking for dresses and said both places had a wonderful selection and some good deals too!
Estelle's in Farmingdale is a hit or miss. You can go there and find a few things you like or not find anything at all.

Re: Mother's dresses/colors
My opinion is...whatever makes them happy. I would just like to see my mother and FMIL feel happy with how they look and comfortable on the big day! I've told them to get the dress that makes them happy. Sure, I'd like them to compliment my bridesmaids and each other, and they probably will, but if they don't it's not the end of the world.
