Mothers giving speeches??

Hi all,

Do you think it's weird to have MOG and MOB giving speeches at the reception instead of the dads?

I will be having 2 receptions, 1 in New York and 1 overseas. My FMIL and FFIL are divorced, FFIL will only be at the wedding overseas.

I would like to have our parents giving speeches instead of MOH and BM. So I'm thinking - have the moms speak at the one in New York, and have the dads speak at the other one.

Or is it weird??

Furthermore, I would love to give a speech to thank my family and friends, but FH doesn't feel comfortable speaking in front of a big group.

So it will be all women speaking?????

What do u think?

ps. I still have at least over a year to go before my wedding, but I'm already constantly thinking about the little details...

i think that it is a nice idea to have your family a part of the speach process. maybe have the best man give a speech and a mother in NY one of the mothers may not want to do it and than overseas, the fathers can say the speach.. or something like that

I'm all for the women giving speeches. But only if they are comfortable and have practiced.

The art of public speaking does not come easy for many and many are not good at it. The few that are, their speeches actually go by fast, those that aren't, even a short speech is painful to listen to.

My brother has been a BM 4 times and he is great... funny, relaxed and very memorable.
