We got an estimate today from a moving co. to move our 2 BR apt from Manhattan to Bethpage, LI. It's around $1500...does anyone know if this sounds reasonable???

I don't know if this helps - it's kind of comparing apples to oranges, but the best I can offer for comparison is that we paid about $4500 to move from Boston to LI, and we had a lot of stuff - over 15,000 lbs. estimated. It took up over half of a 48' trailer.

depends where in manhattan - 10th floor of a walkup? probably reasonable. driving in the city is maddening too.
they usually charge a flat rate per hour starting from when they leave their origin until when they get back
we had two stops...one in LI and in queens...to move to another place in queens...
3 guys about 8 hours...$800 thats including tips..

We are moving next week, within Manhattan elevator to elevator bldg. It is $380 for 3 men, 3 hours and $48 for each additional 1/2 hour. Included is all of the stuff they use- dollies, bins, wardrobe boxes, blankets, etc. You just pay extra for boxes if you want them that day.
