Moving in w/ FI

Moving in w/ FI

So after thinking about this for some time, I have decided to move into our home w/ my FI. Originally I had planned to wait until after the wedding bc i thought it would be 'more special'. That may be true but Im paying half the mortgage and well..... I miss him. I wanna spend more time w/ him and he does too so.... I will probably move in slowly all through Oct. Im so excited.

But as you may know, I just had to put my one dog to sleep yesterday (very sad about that) and now I will have to leave the other one too. Im having a REALLY hard time w/ that

I just moved in with my FI. It made more sense financially for us. If you are paying half the mortgage, there really is no reason why you shouldn't be there with him.

I am truly sorry about your pets. Having had a family pet once, I know how it feels when they are no longer around. I hope things get easier for you.

I think your decision is a good one...if it is right for you! Fh and I live together for lots of reasons and it was the best decision for us...

sorry about your doggy...

I know the decision is difficult bc FH & I were going through the same thing...We realized that no matter what, after the wedding will still be special....It didn't make sense to not move in there together considering we are both paying the mortgage & all the bills!

Right now we are living there on the weekends until sometime in October when our bedroom furniture is delivered. It is nice to be moving in slowly! I am too leaving behind my dog & that is very hard. Just think, he can come for sleepovers

I must add...

It will be very special after you are married. Nothing can take that away with you. But in the wise words of my mother, whose marriage lasted 49 years, 'You never know a man until you live with him.' As much as I hate to admit when she is right, she most certainly is. I wouldn't live with FH until I had a ring on my finger and a date on the calendar with deposits in (but that's my own thing - not a moral or romantic thing)!

It will be easier on you to make the adjustments after the wedding once you have a sense of who your FH is. The fairytale of carrying the bride over the threshold of a new home is a wonderful image and the romance is there for a long time after your special day. But you will soon see that life goes on and you live like you always did - just with a man who leaves his underwear in the middle of the living room. (YES IT HAPPENED) I get home from work about 2 hours before he does and found a pair right in front of the TV. I asked him if he was a nudist and didn't tell me.

Leslie,

I could not agree with you more! You really never know a man until you live with him! It has been an adjustment even only on weekends but we are ironing out our differences...There is always a trail of clothes going into the bathroom Don't forget the water on the counter in the bathroom

I agree with the fact that you never really know a person until you live with them. I think that your making a good choice Michele.. You are going to be with each other for the rest of your lives.. Why wait, you know?? Lots of luck!

Kristen it has only been three weeks and it is a rude awakening. I need a second bathroom because his beauty rituals take more time than mine! I'm marrying a metrosexual!

Congrats!

I live with FH and it's true you really don't completely know a person until you live with him!

Sorry about you dog!

Enjoy it! Living together is so much fun and then you really can enjoy a smoother transition into married life. I'm sorry about your family dog. Why can't you bring your other dog into the co op? Are dogs not allowed?

Good for you both. I originally was against moving in before we got married but eventually caved in. I must tell you it was one of the better more logical decisions I have ever made! Good luck!

I think you did the right thing! Congratulations! The first few months will be a little hard bc you're really getting 'used' to living with each other, but overall just relax and enjoy each other. Im happy for you!

Michele, this is prob going to be one of the best things you and your FI ever do. Moving in together is such a big step and such a wonderful experience, it's nice to have it separate from the wedding. Afterwards it will still be special bc you'll be going home together as husband & wife and won't have to worry about all those kinks that you've already worked out. It's gonna be great!!!

Re: Moving in w/ FI

sorry to hear about your dog...i know how hard that is. is there any way you can take your other dog with you? at least you're moving in slowly, which will help you adjust to the whole thing.

my FH and i are closing on our house on wed!! and we will both move in. i think it will make the whole planning process a lot easier. and we won't have to worry about moving around wedding/honeymoon time. it will be crazy enough then!

good luck!
