Moving the wedding back?

Moving the wedding back?

I talked with FH today and we're not sure if we'll be able to afford to have the wedding in July 2010. Not sure if we can save up enough money.
So now we're considering moving it back to late 2010 (Nov/Dec) or even early 2011.

I feel like I'm waiting so long as it is. But I dont want to be paying for ONE day for the next 10 years...

We havent made any definite decisions and won't for awhile. But its so frustrating. I'd rather move it back a few months and have the wedding of my dreams then just do it in city hall now.

I guess in the end what matters most is I'm getting married to a wonderful man. I just hope we dont have to push it back

Nov or Dec could be a good idea for you b/ you'll have more time to save...and the price will go down significantly. My sister was married at JT in Sept...and a friend of the family in Dec...and their prices were much different

I am so sorry. I completely agree with Traci. You will only have to wait another 4 or 5 months and the prices will go down dramatically!!!

I originally wanted to have my wedding in May of' 09- but when we looked at the difference in price- January was overall so much better! The prices even drop by a lot of money if you move it from Dec to Jan-Feb...its really unbelieveable!

by moving it back it will 100% be easier for you to save money, take your time planning, get exactly what you want for drastically cheaper prices...there are alot of positives to moving it back, but the negative is that you have to wait a few more months. FH and I had to move our weddinf from january 2010 to october 2010 because of money also, so its not the worst thing in the world to do.
Just keep reminding yourself that you dont want to be in debt for the first 5 years of married life bc of your wedding...

And Nov and Dec are also pretty times of year...just not as warm. But I've been tracking the Nov weather for the last 2 yrs...expecting I would eventually be proposed to. LOL. November has been really nice for the last 2 yrs...most weekends even being pretty warm. Just my two cents

I agree it is not extremely cold weather

First of all I'm so sorry you have to consider changing your date. It's like you said though, you're still getting married and still going to have the wedding you want. A november wedding would be gorgeous........so many decorating opportunities! I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever choice needs to be made. Good luck to you.

There is nothing wrong with changing your day. Winter weddings are beautiful. If that will help you do it...

Re: Moving the wedding back?

Thanks girlss!! I'm trying to be as optimistic as possible- hopefully we wont have to move it back!

We might meet with JT just to see what they'd charge for Feb or March 2011. However, I honestly dont think in my case the price would be too different, considering we're getting one of the lowest prices possible.

It's so scary but the even though the price we're paying is low (for weddings today at least)...spending $14k on just part of the wedding kinda freaks me out!!

Re: Moving the wedding back?

Maybe you can negotiate with them, being that Feb/March is supposed to be cheaper than July... a plus is that you'll be able to have time to save a lot more and not stress about it....

good luck and keep us posted!!!

Re: Moving the wedding back?

I would definitely meet with JT right away and just find out what they could do for you if you moved the wedding. I would make sure you ask, and if you have any vendors booked if there is any penalty for changing the date. Whenever we looked at venues we always asked this question and they said after a certain point they do give a penalty.
We moved our date from May 2010 to July 2010 and I'm hoping even those two little months help us.

I think you should sit down and go over all the finances. If you really want something, there is always a way. Don't worry Colleen, I am sure you will work it out!!!!!

Re: Moving the wedding back?

Colleen, you will have a beautiful wedding. I was a Nov 08 bride, but finances and buying a house had us to change it to Nov 2010. You are in great company as a winter bride.
