DH and I are moving to LI. Our house is currently on the market and we are going to begin our search on the Island this weekend. I am just curious about how much we can expect to spend. For a modest 3br, 2f bath and at least 1/4 acre. In a very good to excellent school district. I know many of you are currently searching for a home with the same criteria. What do you think is going to be a realistic price range. The home doesn't have to mint, but structurally sound.

much depends on where you want to live. if you are willing to go further out east on long island, the houses are a little bigger, many have a little more porperty for the money. the homes in great school districts may cost more money because they are in great school districts. start to research areas, and drive around in them. you will start to get a feel for places you are interested in. you will have a better idea of the prices once you know that.

AT least 1/4 of an acre is a lot of land to find on LI. You would probably have to go out east to find land like that. Unless you're looking to spend around $750,000. Out east you might be able to find it for about $450-500.
