MP3 Players

I have stupid question....

How do these work?

Re: MP3 Players

I have the iPod.

Basically it's just a hard drive (mine is 20 gigs)

So I can purchase songs off of the itunes website for .99 each (or 7.99-9.99 per album).. they get downloaded into my iTune program. I can also transfer all the songs off of my CDs into the itunes program.

Once the songs are in my program all I need to do is plug the iPod into my laptop and the songs automatically shoot right over.

it's so easy- the interface is foolproof (or at least it is for MAC- I find their interfaces WAY easier than PC interfaces).

Thanks.

Is 20gb standard? It sounds like a lot of space. I was looking at best buy.com and a lot of them are 128mb, 256mb.

Re: MP3 Players

For the MAC iPods I believe they come in 10, 20, and 40 GB models. I have the 20 which holds approx. 5000 songs.. so basically i don't ever have to erase anything- I could probably put every CD I own on there!

I would think you AT LEAST need a Gig.. I say that because right now I have 300 songs and it takes up 1.7 gigs.

256mb holds practically NOTHING....
I have a RIO and I had to buy an extra memory card b/c it wasn't enough.

Ok, I'll keep looking. I knew 128 was out of the question. It's weird there are quite a few 64/128/256's. Then two 1.5gb and the 20gb. They are such big jumps.

We can't go with ipod since we have pc's - is one brand better then another?

ets - I think I saw a post on this last week that I'll look for.

Thanks for the help.

Re: MP3 Players

You can have an iPod with a PC!!! They do talk to eachother, it's not just for MAC users!!! check out www.apple.com and they'll tell you what the PC specs are.

Re: MP3 Players

I have a Rio Christine and its pretty easy to change the songs...just drag and click...

although can the players that hold 20 GB make playlists? that would be interesting to look into...

my first mp3 player when they first came out was a SOny...and a PITA...you had to convert the mp3s before you put them on the player...and then it still only held 10 songs...ahhh technology
