MP3 players all pretty much work the same way, although I primarily have experience with the iPod mini.

You put songs on them with the computer. Some of the older models I've seen ahve memory cards that you cna laod up individually and swap out, so you could ahve one card filled with R&B, one card with Rock, etc. The iPod, for example hooks directly into the computer via firewire or usb, and uses iTunes software to upload songs. It is SO easy. If you want to put a CD on your iPod, you hook it up, open the iTunes software and pop the CD in. it's that simple. For pre existing MP3's on the computer you can search for them and add them to the iTunes list. Also, it's very easy to buy songs from iTunes.com for 99 cents a piece (there's also a free one every week), and they automatically go on your iPod when you hook it up. It;s so easy and you can make all kinds of playlists either on the iPod on on the computer, and when you hook it up it'll all sync up so no matter where you created the playlist, it'll show up on both.

As far as accessories go, I can only speak for the iPod, but I'm sure the other more sophisticated ones have similar capabilities. I have a dock for my iPod mini where I can hook it up to the computer (as I would with a wire) but the good thing is that ths dock also charges the iPod. There's an armband, etc, They laos have various speakers and attachements to hook it up to speakers. They also have a car kit to hook the iPod up to the car. Keep in mind that if you're buying an expensive MP3 player these extra ttachments are also a lot of $$$, so you might want to save the car adapter as a birthdya gift or something. I think apple.com or itunes.com will give you all of the info you need on iPod. It's seriously the coolest thing I own and I LOVE it. My FH got it for me for my birthday and it's the best money he ever spent it's totally worth the $$! Good Luck. hope that helped!

totally agree about the ipod. i love mine. i have the kit that allows you to play it in through your car stereo. you attach on end to the ipod itself, it plugs in where the headphones would normally go, and it has a tape that you plug into the tape player - if your car has one. fh has something similar but his just plugs directly into the ipod and you set your car radio to a certain station and it plays that way. for the $$ the ipod is the way to go. its one of the more expensive mp3 players, but apple is a name that everyone knows. good luck

You cna sue an iPod with ANY computer. I have a PC> They are compatible with any tpe of computer! They come with both a USB cable (for PC) and a firewire cable (for apple). If you have a PC you can buy a firewore port for it, which is what my FH did for me because it's faster, but it doesn't make a difference, pC or Mac, laptop or desktop, it's all the same.
