Mrs. Money Bags

Mrs. Money Bags

okay, so who's nervous about card box being stolen? I AM! What's another solution besides having a card box? If my parents accept cards from guests, how do we let everyone know where to put the cards? I have no idea how this works. What's this money bag I hear some girls talking about? How does it all fit together? Someone help! THANKS!

i had a BIG cardbox for this purpose bc nobody can walk out with it without anybody noticing lol. The bag im more afraid of bc you put that down under a table and easier to take. I know somebody who had their whole bag stolen.

I also worry a bit about the cards being taken...you never know!

I am most likely going to do both....we will definitely be walking around and of course some people will give us cards. When we return to the table, we will put them in the box so nothing is in the bag at all.

It will be very hard for someone to walk out with the card box!

I just don't wanna seem like a crazed lunatic by putting out a card box with a big ole' pad lock on it. Any ideas how to make one that's secure? (I'm pretty crafty)

mine was secure, the slot was small so nobody can put their hand through it. Plus in order to open the box, we were given instructions, you have to open the ribbon on top and then pull the 2 longest parts down and once you pull down hard the box broke up well the last box and box on top of it that were attached popped open. So not like anybody couldve opened our box without somebody noticing lol, i think somebody wouldve noticed, plus they wouldnt have known how to open it easily.

This was the cardbox i had. Plus it was behind my table where our bridal attendant stood the whole time

I just think it is horrible that someone would go to a wedding and actually steal envelopes and the fact that it has happened before is mortifying.

Me too, I also was thinking, do most people give a check or cash? Every wedding I've been to I always give a check, so they wouldnt even be able to cash it if they did steal it...

i would say its pretty mixed. I did get ALOT of checks but i have to say i also had alot of guests who gave us cash. Actually now thinking about when we deposited it in the bank and it was actually almost even the amount we got in checks and also in cash.

It is horrible and disgusting that people do this.

I agree...how awful...I also heard that it is sometimes the people that work in the RHs!!!!!!!!

We had a medium-sized cardbox (it was a white satin box that looked like a treasure chest-I glued it shut, decorated it) and my RH had it on a table that was behind our table, with our sign-in book in fornt of it. Maybe that's an option for you-have them put it on a table behind you so it would be obvious if anyone tried to take it.

JMHO but not sure about the money bag thing...like Espo said, those are much more easily stolen than a box. Also you might not want to worry about carrying it around either...or worry about where to put it down....you want to enjoy your reception, not worry about this.

I tied ribbons in my wedding colors around my card box to 'lock it' so no one could open it & take cards out. It just looked like decoration, but I really did it for peace of mind.
