Re: MTv's Super Sweet 16
yeah. it was sad. they had a floor of saks closed for tehm to try on dresses and they tried to get beyonce to sing at their party! (it was a joint party). they ended up with some other band i dont knnow of. you shouldve seen her closet!
i think the show is funny.........i grew up in a rich area and there are LOTS of kids who are really spoiled.......it's just life, someday they will learn what a buck is

Re: MTv's Super Sweet 16
$100,000 for a Sweet 16?!?!? I had mine in my backyard - we played volleyball, twister and broke pinatas (sp?)
It reminds me of that episode of Sex and the City when Samantha was doing the PR for the girls Bat Mitvah and she was trying to get N Sync or something to play at it.
Wow... I just realized how sad I am. I can relate almost everything to an episode of Sex and the City or Friends. I watch too much TV.

Re: MTv's Super Sweet 16
Yeah, this is all we need on tv. Now all the little teenage brats around are going to act even brattier, snottier, & want even MORE materialitsic sh!t from watching these little snobs! The times have changed so much- remember your Sweet 16 girls? Was it anything like these? I've even been to some 'rich girls' Sweet 16's when I was young & they at least dressed appropriately for a 16 year old.
Sorry I vented, but I work in a very wealthy neighborhood & had a 14 year old come in for a MASSAGE recently (yes, I'm serious) & was complaining about how stressful her life was!!!! (While carrying the latest Louis bag & dressed from head to toe in Juicy couture).

Re: MTv's Super Sweet 16
I couldn't believe the episode I saw...I think it was on last week...with the two girls who had a party or sweet 16..whatever it was.. at a club..and they both wore the black dresses. They tried to hire Beyonce and she wouldn't do it for less that an incredible amount of $$$...the show is very sickening to watch!!

I won't watch this and I think it's terrible that MTV is airing it. As if things aren't bad enough with everyone trying to be everything they see on MTV...
Two of my cousins had Sweet Sixteen's that cost around $40k (YEARS ago).

Re: MTv's Super Sweet 16
I missed it!!!! I have read the reviews and the girls sound super obnoxious. Kids nowadays....... I am beginning to sound more and more like my parents each day!!
Being that it is MTV, I am sure it will be rerun multiple times by the end of the week.

Re: MTv's Super Sweet 16
I didn't think girls really had big parties the way we used to. Guess I was wrong. I went a few fancy was in my living room, catered from a deli, about 20 -25 people, there was a throw pillow fight at one point.
My cousin turned 16 in May. FOR her Sweet 16 she & 5 of her friends ( and a parent) went to see FAME ( matinee) & then had a sleepover & for a friend the same gropu wnet to Hershey Park for the weekend. So those are expensive ideas, but less pretentious than a wedding-like party.
I thought that was more the trend now, but I guess it depends on the area.

Re: MTv's Super Sweet 16
I know I watched it too after Real World last week and this week. Last week was just ridiculous. How in the world could you spend $100K for a sweet 16. But the nice part was all the gifts were going to charity. That must be fun to have a personal shopper like that.
And then last night was crazy too. The Mom was so over the top. I would be so embarrased if my Mom was dancing with a guy I had a crush on. Also it was sad that her Dad was so late and she was crying. But it was nice when Chad Harris showed up.
Why do I watch this stuff?
