Sometimes people have a keyboard player or even just background music. You don't have to.

Our Dj included the cocktail hour music in our contract. It also included ceremony music.

edited to say: you may want to check with your DJ or your contract.

I had my DJ play. It was part of the contract. I also had an accapella group singing.

You could always have someone play piano, or whoever does your ceremony music.

we had a member of our band playing piano during the cocktail hour. Definitely added to the ambiance since Lands End has the grand piano there. It was included in the cost of the band.

We were going to do a steel drum band if it was warm enough to be outside.

I've been to plenty of weddings that didn't have cocktail music. I don't think its necessary, but its appreciated when its there.

We are having piano music throughout the entire reception including cocktail hour. But I'm lucky to have many musician friends so all we have to do in rent the piano and keep the alcohol flowing for them

We are having a pianist and a vocalist for the cocktail hour. Separate from the DJ, costs a bit more, but I think it will add a nice ambiance to the coctail hour.

I just hired a jazz band quartet (keyboard, sax, base and guitar). Pricey, but should be fun!

I got a live singer who is awesome through Tommy's Tunes, but I don't want to use him for cocktail hour (I want to be able to enjot him too!) so he is going to perform for an hour during dinner.

As for cocktail hour, my hall pipes music in and IMO I am happy with that.

He is so amazing! His video was playing and we were both blown away. They offered him for cocktail hour but since I was afraid I would miss him, he is singing for an hour during the reception. I am very excited!!! (hopefully he is still there by the time I get married!!!)

I know...I thought the same thing when I booked him...hopefully he'll still be there. So far, so good...

He really is fantastic! I'm trying to keep it a secret...not many people know that I'm having him!!!
