Music in delivery room
Did anyone bring a portable stereo and music to L&D? Did you use them? I'm trying to decide if I want to pull out a bunch of CDs to bring with me or not.

We did, I thought it was great. I was told to bring candles and massage lotion also, those things I didn't use at all, but I loved having the music. We brought our discman, and a set of old speakers for the computer (someone had told my husband about this idea) - it worked great, I would do it again.
I had planned on doing all of that, but when the time came and my water broke, I was not at home and did not even have my bag with me! Not that it would have mattered, since I went into the labor the night of NFL opening night and my husband was watching (of course) - the baby was born with Sports Center on!
Actually the hospital that i delivered at actually has radios in each L and D room so they tell you to bring CDs...It really kept my mind off things we brought Cds that we both liked...
Thanks. I'll bring some and worst case they just sit there.
Mercy...we had batteries for the walkman, and the speakers were small, so they had nothing to say about the music.
Huntington had CD players in each Labor and Delivery room...we brought a few CD's and listened as delivery time drew near...very nice and relaxing...allowed me to visualize and chill
When we tour the hospital, I plan to check to see if they have a radio or CD player. If not, I have an clock radio with a built-in CD player that I will bring with me.
If it relaxes you - I would totally recommend bringing it. I didn't have time to pack since my baby came early - so I didn't think about it. For me I wanted it more quiet...but I decided that when I got there and the contratcions got more intense. I had the tv on and very very low - I could barely hear it. I just wanted muffled background noise.
I'm thinking about doing this as well. Seems better than listening to the machines beeping!
