I know it's really far in advance to be choosing this.. but I started by DO NOT PLAY list because it was in my paperwork and to me it seemed easy...
And so far I have YMCA, Chicken Dance, Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide, etc.
Originally.. my mother was unhappy, but understood.
MY FMIL!! Lovely as she is was like 'you have to have the electric slide and the cha cha.' It's what gets people moving. (Among other things that she does not like about my wedding).
So, my question is... would you give in and just take these things off your DO NOT PLAY list just because your FMIL feels that it is necessary?

Re: Music Question
I would tell her that you really hate them, and since it's your wedding, you are choosing to skip it.
If she is paying a large chunk of the bill, then maybe give in for ONE song..... but I would fight it tooth and nail.

Re: Music Question
I wouldn't give in. It's YOUR day.. do what YOU want to do. Personally, I can't stand line dances so none will be played at our wedding.

Re: Music Question
I believe I should stick with you girls and just tell her no.... and she's not paying a single penny for this wedding. I'm already letting her have half the guest list, as well as buying her a parent album, and trying to accomodate her family as much as possible (by allowing children! UGH!!!! )
Maybe the music should just stay my choice!
Hopefully FH won't get involved....

Re: Music Question
I'm completely anti organized dance so i totally understand. I say stick to your guns about it if you feel really strongly about it. As long as you play music for all generations at the wedding everyone will dance!

This- I refuse to have any of these choreographed dances at my wedding. NO way no how....and if people bug me about it, it makes me say no even more. I actually feel somewhat bad for them bc that will include hava nagila or whatever bc we are having a nondenominational wedding-- but too bad-so sad (for them!)
I do what I want

Re: Music Question
For me there is NO giving in when it comes to music....my do not play list is DO NOT PLAY and I'm not messing around, if I even hear the first beat of YMCA I would b-line it to the DJ booth and not be happy.

Re: Music Question
I feel like the older people like the electric slide and stuff....it is your wedding, and you should play what you want, but one song wouldn't hurt ya if you wanted to compromise....but at the end of the day it's what you want!

This. Regardless of who wanted the dance, if it is on your do not play I would not take it off.

Re: Music Question
They were NEVER on the list to be played. I been to soo many DJs (as you all know LOL ) and they all say Thank you for not being that bride LOL
Do what you want, I personally didn't want to see my 90yo grandmother doing the electric slide LOL
