Can anyone suggest an affordable musician to play for our cocktail hour and ceremony? It would be about 2 hours total. We would like to spend as little as possible.
TIA

counterpoint; she quoted me 325 an hour for a duet, 425 an hour for a trio and 525 and hour for a quartet (string instruments)
they were the cheapest quote I received.

I second Counterpoint. John and Christina have been AWESOME about answering my questions and concerns. I even have a CD of there music they sent me so I didn't have to do an office visit. Contact them, you won't be dissapointed!

We used Cotillion Strings (string trio) for our ceremony and paid less than $400 for a mass. My cousin is a talented musican/music teacher and played the piano (and sang a bit) during cocktail hour. I know he's probably do it cheap since he's young and looking for a FT teaching job and can use the money. If you want either numbers FM me.

HI,
If you go to www.gigmasters.com, there you can put in what you are looking for and send out a bunch of emails to a bunch of different musicians. They will email you their prices, and you can contact them if you like the price. Hope that helps!

Are you using a DJ for the reception? Maybe have him do the ceremony, mine was totally unobtrusive!
In my opinion, cocktail music is a waste of money. No one hears the background music because they are busy talking and eating. Save your money there!! I didn't have cocktail music and believe me no one missed it or said anything about it.

Oh I loved my violinist!!! He played my ceremony and before and after too - and he is amazing. He was $300 for the ceremony and played until the receiving line was done. It was perfect. I got so many compliments on him and actually another girl here is using him now too. You can check out his info in my review on the brides review board - he has a website too and you can hear his music.
