Must Play & Do Not Play

Have you guys started your must play and do not play lists?

Care to share with the group? I'm being lazy and not using my brain. I've only written down a couple songs so far! I could use your help!!

THANKS!

So far my must-have's are:
Summer of ’69, Bryan Adams
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Cyndi Lauper
Take Me Home Tonight, Eddie Money
Runaround Sue, Dion
Living on a Prayer, Bon Jovi
Don’t Stop Believing, Journey

DO NOT PLAY:
ANYTHING from Black eyed peas/fergie/will I am (I know most people have this on their must-have, but I cannot stand any of their music!)
Katy Perry
J-Lo
Britney
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

MUST HAVE:
Blondie
Ramones
Beatles
Elvis
MGMT
Edward Sharpe
Some music from all decades 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's
I have way too many must have!
I just want a good variety with some of our fave rock mixed in. Def dance music, just not super pop-y

Re: Must Play & Do Not Play

I keep a memo pad on my phone of songs not to play!

Do not play:

Play that funky music white boy
Run around sue
These are the good times--Chic

(I'm having a band though, so I think they'd be more inclined to play these types of songa? A DJ would prob know better! Haha)

My 'Play' list is basically my ipod, and I don't have that at work unfortunately!

I love that one of my must-plays is on your do not play. I think that is one of those you love it or you hate it songs!

I feel like I need to go to another wedding and just observe and see what songs everyone gets pumped up to. Too bad that can't happen!

Re: Must Play & Do Not Play

my band is known for having a very dance feel so they will really only play anything that is currently on the radio.
i'm not going to specifically tell them not to not play anything..just to have a really nice range of dance songs. i want everyone on the dance floor that night!

Do Not Play List:
No Rap, Reggae, Hip Hop or anything remotely similar to those genres

Re: Must Play & Do Not Play

my do not play list isnt that long actually. Its like a couple of songs like the Bunny Hop, the Funky chicken, Cha Cha slide, no Country music (sorry) . I have so many 'Must Play songs' like anything from Jay-Z, Michael Jackson, mostly hip hop, some pop, little rock music some 80s, some R&B classics and some salsa/bachate/merengue music (FH is puerto rican). My FH and I have almost completely different taste in music so we want to put a little of each of us in the music an dmake sure everyone sweats on the dance floor. But my one MUST play song has to be at least 2 Backstreet Boys songs. It wouldnt be me or my wedding without a BSB song or 2!

Don't feel bad! I'm not the one who recorded the song!

Re: Must Play & Do Not Play

We have a DJ and we are creating our playlist for him. For the cocktail hour, we made our own one hour mix of songs for him to play and then for the reception he gets a list of songs by genre that he is to play. He's not allowed to play any songs that are not on the list.
