My 10/13/02 wedding review (VERY LONG!!) Part one
First let me start by saying, enjoy every second of your wedding day as it FLIES by so quickly.Although the weather wasn't the greatest, I really can't complain and believe me, if I heard it once I heard it a trillion times 'if it rains on your wedding day it's good luck' Well then, I guess I should be
winning the lottery sometime very soon!! Although it did rain and mist on and off all day- it stopped whenever I was outside. And hoenestly I didn't even care. No downpours so I was safe. OK- on to all of my reviews...........
Rehearsal Dinner-
Pine Hills Country Club
The food was excellent, the view overlooking a golf course was beautiful, and we couldn't beat the location, since we live there! We had about 40 people and everyone was happy with our choice. Beer soda & wine were included, but if anyone wanted mixed drinks or liquor a bar was in the same building. The restaurant is very pretty and
the price was unbeatable.
Dress-
Adrienne's in Islip.
With all the horror stories I heard on here, I was a little worried. I ordered my Paloma Blanca dress in January and it was in by June. The very first day my Mom and I went there, we were treated so well.
Caroline was my Sales Associate and very helpful. Lucy was my seamstress. All I could say is WOW!! She did an amazing job on my gown with the 3 fittings I went to. I lost 60 pounds from when I first
ordered my dress and was nervous about the reconstruction of the bodice top. It looked beautiful. Even when I went for my last fitting
I didn't want to take it off. For any Brides getting their dress there request Lucy. Excellent!!
Bridesmaid dresses-
Adrienne's in Islip. All of my girls got their dresses altered at Adrienne's too. Not sure who their seamstress was but overall they looked beautiful and so did the dresses. My Matron of Honor had ordered a size 22 in Janaury and they took it in to a size 10 one week before the wedding. Great job!
Flowergirl dresses-
Princess Diaries in Smithaven Mall. ADORABLE!!!!! $ 75 for the dress and headpiece. Had 3 flowergirls ages 3, 4 and 6. They were the hit
of the wedding!! The color of the dress was Ivory. No alternations needed. We got the shoes and sweater at the Colony Shop in Patchogue.
Be careful if you need white or off white shoes in October since they are really hard to find in the Fall. Didn't think about for my girls but if you need white or ivory shoes and don't want to spend a fortune get them around Easter time. ps- I was happy to hear I convinced 2 of my girls to be Cinderella for Halloween so their dress will be worn
again!
Tuxedos-
Rico's Clothing in Center Moriches
They did a great job! I drove the guys there a little crazy when I was having doubts the champagne vests and ties wouldn't look right with my
bridesmaid dresses. They assured me if I wasn't happy all the guys could get black replacements. No need since they really complimented the
dresses. We ordered 12 tuxes from there and not one was missing anything (cuff links, shoes, etc)
Hair-
LaCombe in Miller Place. Johanna (who really works in the Wading River salon) came to the Miller Place salon on her day off to do my hair as
well as one of my flower girls, a bridesmaid and my Matron of Honor, who also works in the Wading River Salon. She did an AWESOME job!!!
My hair did not move at all and did not get flat even with the misty rain. I was worried about frizzies because of the rain and humidity
but I didn't want it to look too 'hard' with hairspray. It looked elegant and no frizzies or fly-aways at all!! We also had 2 other hair
dressers doing up-do's and a blow out for my Mom. Everyone's hair looked beautiful and did not move at all.
Makeup-
Like I mentioned, my Matron of Honor works at Lacombe too so, I was fortunate to have her do my makeup. What a great job she did. Natural looking and elegant.
Headpiece and Veil-
Fantasyland in Patchogue. Ordered both my headpiece and veil and they were in within a week. Received many compliments on my headpiece and my veil had a nice little poof. I was debating on whether I should leave it on all day. Once my hair was done and the veil was on, I
felt like a Princess and I knew I wasn't taking it off. It stayed on from 9:30 am to 12:30 am. I know some people were worried people were
going to pull it off with all the hugging, but I had no problems at all. It didn't move an inch, maybe that's because it was dug deep into the back of my scalp!
Wedding Bands-
Elsa's in Farmingdale
They did a beautiful job on my wedding band. It looks beautiful with my engagement ring that my husband also purchased from Elsa's. A perfect match. My husband wanted a titanium band. That we purchased from E-Weddingbands.com. And of course I had to get a matching band. We ordered them on a Sunday night and had them by Wednesday!! Super fast delivery and beautiful!! On a side note- I think my husband watches
too much TV. He had seen a beer commercial before we got married where the groom opens a bottle of beer with his ring. Yes- you guessed
it........ He did the same at our wedding and people were shocked!!!
