My 9 Hour Ordeal in the ER
oh my goodness, what a day yestersday was....
It starts out like a normal morning. Nick left for work and I jumped in the shower, all of a sudden I heard the gate open back up and he made it a point to come back and tell me to be careful on the driveway because it was a sheet of ice. (I now tell him he jinxed me!!!) I get ready for work, walk out the back door tip-toe acros the driveway (my car was in the street), only to realize it is fine, so I let my guard down. BIG MISTAKE! As soon as I hit the street, my feet gave out from under me and I went down and hard. I laid there for about a minute and went back inside.
I called my OB, not even thinking twice about it. I knew I landed on my back, so I figured the baby was okay, but if you rememeber about 2 weeks ago I posted about pelvic pain. Well the follow up to that was the baby was lying in a weird position and was causing my pelvic bone to split. She immediately tells me to go to labor and delivery at Winthrop. I get there in no time flat, for them to tell me to go the ER and get checked out first. Well between seeing the Triage Nurse, going through Registration and waiting and seeing the ER doctor,I sat there from 10-3
I finally get to L&D and had to be on the fetal monitor for 3 hours. They also did an ultrasound.
Thankfully everything with the baby is fine. His heartrate was normal, and he is moving around like a champ. I am very bruised and scratched on my back, shoulders and elbow, but will live. The biggest concern is while the doctor was checking me out, and feeling the pelvic area, he thinks I may have now cracked the pelvic bone. He said the only way to be 100% sure was to do an X-Ray. He said I was 25 weeks pg and all the limbs are formed already but I was still skeptical. I asked if it was cracked what the procedure is from there. He said complete bedrest
However there was nothing to be done to help the bone heal excpet time. So, Nick and I talked it over and decided to forego the X-Ray. I understand the baby is formed and all already, but I still did not want to expost him to all of that anyway. And being it was the pelvic bone there was no way to take the X-Ray and not have him exposed.
So it looks like a lot of R&R for me. Today I woke up and my back, shoulders and elbow are hurting 10X worse then they were yesterday. Which I expected. The day after is always worse right. I did get a prescription for the pain, which hopefully will work. Sorry this is so long, but thanks for letting me get my trauma out!!!!
