My Aug 24th Wedding Review At Flowerfield

First I would like to say how glad I am I stumbled on this board. It helped me tremendously.

My reception was at Flowerfield. I thought my wedding was beautiful. Flowerfield is worth every penny. The added touches, the service and the beauty of the place really added even more to my day. They go over and above to make your day special. Flowerfield was wonderful!

Bridal Salon-Bridal Suite in centereach. I went to over 12 bridal places and this was the last place I went to. I highly reccomend them. Debbie there is wonderful. She even came to my wedding! She put her heart into helping me find my gown and the additions we made with the gown. Even on my last fitting it was her vacation week and she came in there to make sure it was ok. I cant say enough about my experiece there with her.

Hair-Kristen from Encante. I know there are some fans on here of her, but my hair was a problem. As soon as I walked down the isle my hair basically came undone. I had your basic bride hairstyle up with curls. When everybody was outside waiting to throw rose petals at me, I had three people trying to put my hair together. It was very upsetting. I dont know what the problem was. I dont know if she didnt have enough time for me or didnt pin it enough or put enough hairspray in or what. I will say that when I got to Flowerfield they called her salon and she was still there and she came and fixed it. I did have to wait and it took time from taking pictures. It wasnt perfectly the way I wanted, but it was better than the church.

Makeup-I used Melanie from chanel from Smithhaven mall macys. I was very happy with the way she did my makeup. I got lots of compliments on the job she did. She is so sweet too.

Photography By Verdi - Not a recommendation from me. After our wedding ( I have edited this after my original post) they were not pleasant to us at all, very difficult to deal with and unprofessional beyond belief. When I hear all the stories of brides having a page in their album fixed complimenery and when I inquired of this I got emotionally attacked and harassed through emails, I realized I was not dealing with professionals. When my husband called Mr. Verdi about the situation he just basically blamed his wife for the nasty emails to us. I guess that says it all.

Video-Wild Rose Video. They have been a pleasure to deal with. I think I only remember seeing Bill once at my reception. That says alot for being unobtrusive. They didnt have those big lights that other videographers use. This weekend I was at a wedding and the video guy was in the way all the time on the dance floor with his equipment. Wild Rose is not like that. I highly recommend them.

Band-Creations - Well, this was a big stresser for me. I posted about this the day after my wedding so I dont want to go on and on about it. Basically, out of the seven names on my contract there were only three people that showed up and the others I didnt know. To me it was a different band with the same name. I had to find out about the lead and only female singer not being there from a girl on this board. All of my special dances were sung by a female. Even after I spoke to them they were still telling me she would be there up until the last week when it was too late for me to just book another band. Forget about my sheet I handed in because all of my songs basically on my play list I never heard. Our first dance was supposed to be me and my husband alone only and others were asked to join in. My dance with my dad was supposed to be half a slow song and half an upbeat song and we never heard the second song. That was something my dad requested from the day I set the date. The BS I dealt with the week of my wedding with who was showing up and who wasnt was totally ridiculous. It was every brides nightmare about booking a band. I had even asked the band leader if I could talk to the female singer replacement since she was right there and he wouldnt let me. I get very upset when I think of all the bands we had to choose from. I am still upset when I think about it. The agency that we booked from, the owner, Frank Wayne even said we were ripped off and stopped using them for all that happened with my wedding. When you have a contract with band members listed, don't be fooled. This band is a bunch of uncaring crooks. They don't give a s^&* about anyones special day but their own check.

Limos-Allstar Limos. They showed up on time and we had no problems. The driver did ask us directions to the church and we told him where to go.

Flowers-Open House Country. She is located in Stony Brook and works with Sugar Magnolias. She was great to work with and my boquet was exactly what I wanted. She works from her home and really put her time into the details of what I wanted. If anyone wants her info, let me know.

I dont know if I left anything out. My day was a beautiful day. Thank goodness the rain held out. It does go by so fast like everybody says. Good luck to all you future brides.

Aside from the band, everything else sounded perfect. Your photos are gorgeous!! When you have a chance, please scan some of the ones they didn't select...you made a beautiful bride.

I'm using All Star - and just sent them a sheet of driving directions for our day! (yeah, I'm neurotic, but maybe now we won't get asked for directions!)

Cindy...I am so glad that most everything went well...Lovin Oven was spectacular for our wedding...so I'm sure the same was at Flowerfields...

we also used All Star and Wild Rose and Verdi was my second choice...what a small world!!

I feel horrible for you about the band. Did you call Franklin Wayne to complain - I don't know what they could do for you, but read your contract. I know they put the names of my band on the contract!

Everything else sounds lovely. My husband's cousin got married the same day and I thought of you!

As for the hair ... well, maybe you helped out a future bride! I'm sure your pictures are lovely though and you made a beautiful bride!

Hopefully, you'll be a regular on the Newlywed board!
