My best friend makes me SO MAD!!!!!! (LONG)

Ok my best friend have known her since 6th grade best friends ever since. She had lots of family problems tried to kill her self and was comited to LIJ pshyc ward several times. I use to sneak in and say I was her step sister to visit her. She had a Drug problem I have never even smoked pot before and I was still her best friend when she was doin heroin. She moved to vegas in the 9th grade. still remained best friends. went to Vegas to visit her at least once a year. She met this idiot who beat her up got pregnant and get married continued to be her best friend Spent lots of money on things for her and her son since they had nothing and was living Low incme housing. She had an on and off agian relationship with her husband like when she didnt have a job she let him live there so she could keep her apt. I went to visit herin March it was a surprise we show up at her house and she says o ya
I let shawn back in Thanks for letting me know. (her mom already told me) now she is 6 months pregnant again and living i a home for battered woman that are pregnant and or have kids. no one is allwoed the address or phone # because he could find out. She writes me from her sisters Aol SN and tells me Im a bad friend cause I dont write or call????? HELLO!!!!! I write her back on that SN nothing. She writes again about how shes 6months prgnant and rough time and needs a friend and im not there for her ( I never told her to get pregnant AGAIN by the jerk) I call her moms house and leave this message on the answering machine and writes me an email about how she got my message bla blah and I can write her on an email account she has on hotmail. And Because I didnt write her back that day she write ma again sayin ow she got my message and know I can reply to her e-mail She thinks I dont want to be her friend anymore. I wrote her back just now reminding her that I am planning a wedding that will be takin place in the next 10 months working 2 jobs 6 days a week...... I have stress 2. Trying to find an apt even though FH an I want a house but will never be able to afford one.... IM SO MAD AT THE SAME TIME UPSET. how can she be like that after I have been there for her through so much I mean I know shes prego and hormones are crazy but come on am I crazy here?????

wow..i dont know what to say. hope your venting helped. remember that first and foremost your life is important and you did a lot for this girl alrady.

Well I hope you don't ever doubt yourself for the friendship you've given this girl.

It sounds to me that she is used to you always running there for her when it was needed and expects it everytime. These type of people feel YOU shouldn't have a life and can't understand how YOU could be so selfish (even tough you are NOT)...because your every second isn't about them.

I was in this same boat. I had to cut all ties with my friend...she was making me less of a person and making me always put myself second...I don't mind doing that but it shouldn't have to be EVERY time...and it's also a give and take kind of thing...that is what a friendship is about.

She needs to be more responsible for HER actions...you have done so with your life! Her woes are only her own.

And sad to say...but I think it's probably a good thing that she moved away from you.

unfortunately, she is trying to drag you down with her. You kind of have to draw the line somewhere when it comes to people with substance abuse problems. Sometimes they are not even aware they are doing anything.

Don't let her negativity get to you - just remember to set boundaries. You have no control over her actions.

OMG!!! That sounds SO similar to my own experience.

Best friends since 6th grade. Bottom line, she was a taker and I was a giver. Jealous, moody, treats others like crap while expecting others to walk on eggs around her. Met a guy who got her into drugs big time. I don't even like to take aspirin. The guy was a loser, drug addict, pushed her around. She stayed with him.

I got engaged, she got SUPER jealous. I still tried to be a good friend and overlooked her jealousy, trying to be understanding. She still turned on me and withdrew from the wedding. We haven't spoken in six months now.

I did EVERYTHING a good friend usually does for this girl. I went FAR beyond the call of friendship many many times. I even took her in and she lived with me for a YEAR, rent free, so she could have a break and get on her feet, get her bills paid off. Even then, she walked around my house with an attitude.

I've finally come to the point where I realize, no matter WHAT you do or how much you give and give to someone, it's up to them to change their lives. We all make our own choices in life, and we really can't control another persons choices.

You've done ALL you can do for this girl. She needs to get a clue and grow up.

You deserve to RECEIVE friendship, and not just give it all the time. You don't need her.
