my bridal shower

my bridal shower

Honestly I wish that I could have been left out of the whole thing. I gave all my BM's each others phone # and said do what you do..
My MOH has been talking to me about having my mom book my shower at this one place she recommends. So I talked to my mom on how shes got to start looking into booking cause it will be booking up and shes was procrastinating and then said well let your friend book it and put the deposit down. (Shes my mother and I love her but WHAT!?!) So much for wanting to be involved in your only daughters wedding.
So my MOH, FH and I booked it. I felt like such a loser booking my own shower. The guy was like hey my wife knew too., Yeah but you own the restaurant and I am sure she didnt put her own $$ down for it.
Oh Vent over..

Awww sweetie.......that stinks.
Maybe you can ask your MOH to keep you out of the rest of the planning. This way you won't know about the theme or colors or anything like that. So you know the time and place...at least this way you can make yourself all dolled up!!! Try to find the positive and don't let this get you down.

Thanks thats was my extent of being involved I asked my MOH to talk with the rest of the girls and my mom for the rest. Hopefully Mom will realize its important to me for her to be involved. She just is socially ignorant and thinks every wedding related party should be thrown in a house just not hers!! shes stuck in the 60's.

Re: my bridal shower

I can completely sympathize with you. My mother is trying to get me involved in the planning and I told her I want to know nothing about it and it should be a complete surprise to me. Then she told me that I can act surprised. Then I told her she's a buttwhore, ok I didn't say that but it ran through my mind. However, I did warn her that if this shower is going to be more of a hassle than it's worth I don't want one at all

Re: my bridal shower

this really sux...if your bp doesnt get it 2gether then u should skimp on their gifts....i mean they have one thing 2 do besides getting their dresses & thats throwing your shower....we (the bride) take care of everything else....cheer up, it'll turn out ok.

You have a right to vent! I agree- ask your MOH & BM's to plan the rest w/o your involvement. It's all the details of the day anyway that will be memorable & surprising. I want mine to be a total surprise- but the chances that someone won't slip are slim....

I'm sorry well try not to be involved in anything else for the shower (I know its hard.) Maybe they'll move their butts when they see you're not doing anything.

My MOH knows I'm very picky and I suggested various ideas and places. Her and my mom will be in touch and I hope she stays on my mom. My mom is very very laid back and last minute about stuff and I want a NICE shower, ha ha. Not a last minute local pizza place or something. I'm such a diva-bridezil. Ha ha!

Ohhh I am so sorry! That's definitely not how you envision your bridal shower. Sometimes mom's are really from another generation and don't realize how important these things are. I've had to force my mom to look at MOB gowns- she's always busy! They don't do it on purpose- I think they are just on a different page. Either way, I'm so sorry that you had to do that. I hope everything else works out for you!

Re: my bridal shower

my sister told me the date of my shower, may 10th 2008. When i asked her why she would do that, she said b/c i am to old for surprises. Im 39 and this is my first wedding. What is the cut off age for surprises??? anyone know??? I was completely crushed when she told me. So my moh is throwing me a separate shower with just my friends.

Re: my bridal shower

hahaha....am I the only one that doesnt mind being involved?? my sister jokes around telling me I should book it b/c I keep telling her a few places that I love...and I dont want to be bothered with the opening of presents...ahaha..I rather no one wrap them and just come and have a good time and not have to sit through that...

Re: my bridal shower

i feel your pain.. my mother is against the whole shower thing.. i practically had to beg for one.. she is also dead set against inviting her friends. i don't want to even get into it cos its very upsetting. she has offered no help with planning my wedding. when i call her to come look at dresses etc... her response is 'if i have to come' !!

i luv my mom & but with some things i can't figure her out. she thinks this whole wedding planning thing is a headache. hellllo she went into one store & tried on 3 dresses!! big deal !

sorry you hit a sore spot. didn't mean to go off.

you are not alone

Hugs sorry to hear this has been hard on you...you don't deserve it! You're such a sweetie!!!!!!!

Stupid question though (not to cause trouble). Didn't your MOH contact the other BM's to get help with your shower?

Honestly, my mother isn't helping out with the shower but I don't think its a big deal. I don't think its her responsibility. Unless there's certain reasons, that's what the BM's are for. Plus in our situation, my parents are helping us pay for the wedding and thats expensive enough.
