Has anyone ever felt like their bridesmaids were a little disappointing?
This past Saturday I went to the bridal salon with plans on ordering my dress. My MOH and one of my BMs (they're sisters and also my cousins) were supposed to meet me there. My MOH did say she was working in the day and when my BM got there, she told me my MOH wouldn't be able to make it. I was bummed, but I was ok. Then when I put my dress on and walked out of the fitting room, my BM pretty much just sat there and watched. I had to ask what she thought. She seemed pretty unenthusiastic. I don't know... I guess I am different. I show excitement if I am happy for someone and I would have gotten up to get a closer look at the dress. So... that was that. I e-mailed my MOH to say 'Hey, sorry you got stuck at work... we'll get together soon though to look at BM dresses and I'll show you my dress then'. I know she read it and didn't get a reply. I also e-mailed my BM to thank her again for spending the day with me and that I appreciated it. Again, it was read but no reply. The other day I e-mailed my other BM (an out of state friend) giving her a heads up on what the dress plans were and I kind of asked what her budget was. I suggested a price range and some ideas... asked what style dresses she likes or wouldn't feel comfortable wearing. I couldn't tell if she got the e-mail so I had FH call his friend (BM's husband). FH said that my BM did get the e-mail and it 'sounds good'. I just feel a little upset. FH says it's little stuff and not to worry about it. I just keep hearing about how all of your BMs are doing sweet things for you and getting involved. All of them are married so I understand they have lives... I don't know. Thanks for reading. Just had to vent.

Dont feel bad not everyone shows excitement like you expect. The closer it gets to the date youll see the difference, Hey i lost my best friend over a very similar situation. These things happen.

Dont feel bad. My BP is the same way...I got a little upset too but you just have to say to yourself thats them and let it go. Maybe when it gets closer to the wedding they might get more excited. Its your wedding and dont let their lack of enthusiasm ruin it.

i never had any problems - but i guess thats b/c i didnt really expect anything either....your friends/family they are excited - but trust me, they are not as excited as you are especially since the wedding is still pretty far off - i think that when the day gets closer you will see a change - like around your shower and wedding.....try to think of how they usually are - they are probably just being themselves - know what i mean?

I have a couple of BM's that can't share the excitement because they are not in the same place as I am. I think if they were also engaged or married, then they could be excited because they know what it's like.

don't feel bad mind are pretty deadbeat as well. Although I tried on my dress for one BM and she was excitied taking photos... but other than that the one that has shown the most interest is the only one that is married lol.
I know it's a ways a way so I'm sure when it gets closer they'll be more excited.
wow ... dont let them get you down!.... hoopefully things will change maybe you should tell them how you are feeling

dont worry ... just be happy for yourself. Being that your BMs are married, Im surprised they are acting this way ... since they've been threw it they should be showing more excitement for you

I am currently dealing with the same exact thing.. My BM's barely call me back and when they do i feel like they think I am torturing them.. I really haven't even bothered them with anything... I didn't even ask them to go dress shopping I just asked their budget and ideas and no reply...I am having real trouble with on of my BM's about her being jealous of me and trying to out do me.. its really childish.. I emailed her a picture of my dress and she read it and no reply whatsoever..At least I have my sister (MOH) and she is really supportive and doesn't care that I drag her to try on dresses.
I am sorry you have to go through similiar stuff.. I get really upset about it too and FH tells me to not think of it.. its OUR day so we shouldnt let anyone get us down

I'm sorry to hear that. I understand what you are going through. Certain bridesmaids are just that way. I would hate to think that they don't want to be part of this beautiful event, but we all know thats not the case. Maybe that is the way that they are and that can't be changed. Maybe you should speak to them and see why they are behaving in that way with you. Its always good to speak up, but just politely.

The fact that they are married is not an excuse. Were you in their weddings? All of my bms are married, except for my sister, and even though I know they have their own lives, I did so much for their weddings so I feel I kind of deserve it. Sorry to sound like a brat!

Re: My Bridesmaids (long)
Thank you everyone for your replies (and FMs ). It's nice to know I'm not alone. It stinks, but like many of you said, as it gets closer things may be different.
To respond to some of you, someone asked if they are always like this. Now that I think about it, my two cousins are pretty 'blah' most of the time unless it has to do with them. And my other BM is an out of state friend who I just haven't seen in a few months. But when I do see her, she's always asking questions. I know she is happy for me. She's a new mom and has a lot on her plate right now as well. I was in my MOH's wedding as a BM... and her sister (other BM) had a small bridal party so I wasn't in it. But, as someone mentioned the word 'jealous', my mom seems to think they are jealous of me. I don't see why though. They had their own beautiful weddings and did things their own way. I'm not trying to out-do anyone. That's not my style.
But again, thank you and I will let you know if anything changes. to all of you
