My brothers in his party?

My brothers in his party?

My guy doesn't get along with one of my brothers and he doesn't want him to be a part of the groomsmen party. My mother is being persistent about changing his mind. I don't want him to be uncomfortable on our big day but I also want my family included. Any suggestions?

Ugh. I had a similar problem. FH thinks my brother is nice enough, but hasn't shown much interest in us getting married, so we almost didn't have him (I didn't want him either). My mother pressured me and told me that he is my only sibling, etc. I told FH that my mom wanted it and FH said okay. Mind you, he hasn't actually asked him, but he refers to him as one of the GM.

Is it important to you? Are you having your FH's siblings in your party? These are things to bring up.

Unless your FH is worried that your brother will misbehave and make problems, he should ask him to be an usher.

Re: My brothers in his party?

Wow, we just had the exact same situation when my brother got married in September. I wish I could say they worked it out. I think in the end they just took a few pictures with the brothers included, but they really didn't do anything in the ceremony. My brother didn't get a long with his wife's brothers--they're little kids (I think 13 and 11??) and completely disrespectful to my brother. Plus my brother had two of our 15 year old cousins in his BP and he didn't want it all to be little kids. It caused much stress, grief, etc. on all sides.

Can your brother do a reading instead? I think your FH's bridal party should be full of people who are important to him, but I also agree that your brother should be included in some way. Tough call...that's why we're only having a MOH and a BM!

Good luck!
