I woke up this morning to FH's cat jumping on top of me. I felt something wet and noticed some yellow droplets on the WHITE comforter. I yelled something like 'that's f'ing disgusting!' which woke up FH. We look in the MIDDLE of the bed and there's a big ol' puddle of yellow piss in the middle of the, again, WHITE COMFORTER. The best part is that it soaked through the 2 layers of sheets to the mattress, which was g-d-awful expensive and that we just paid for.
At first, I thought he might have UTI or something because he just sat there in the hallway licking his paws. Usually when he's done something 'wrong' he knows it and runs away. BUT, then I wasn't sure if he did it out of spite because FH has been a little derelict in his litter cleaning duties (hence, my Litter Robot post from a few days ago).
I threw the comforter and sheets (brand new, by the way) into the wash with hot water, bleach, detergent, etc. And we used Pet Stain on the mattress. Any other suggestions? I'm so worried the mattress will be ruined but I don't think it seeped in too much.
What a way to start a Saturday morning!

You are going to have to wash the sheets with a cup of white vinegar and detergent that should definitely do the trick of getting out the smell without a trace.

Re: My cat peed IN the bed while we were in it!!!
This happened to us, repeatedly.
We went to our vet to make sure it wasn't a physical problem, which it could be (crystals in the urine, diabetes or otherwise). It wasn't physical, but once he did this the first time he didn't stop, it happened weekly.
Here's the first thing she said: make sure the box is always VERY clean. So, that def. could be your problem.
Next, if he does this again, our vet had us stop letting him sleep with us for a while, especially on weekends when we sleep in. He was doing it to wake us up for attention.
We believe our kitten is 'over dependent', needing to be with us all the time. A little separation has done wonders. We still are careful to pay attention when he starts to scratch in the bed, we headed him off once when he was about to go. If this happens grab him gently but quickly and put him in his box.
Also, he went in our tub the other day. I'd prefer that to our bed, but still would rather it not happen. We've just now put him on something called 'Composure'. It's not cheap but it helps his anxiety.
Good luck, don't give up on him! It might take a while, but you'll get through it.
Also, NEVER yell, hit or get too angry if he does this (though I did push him off the bed in a hurry!). It ups the anxiety level and can make the problem worse, not better.
Last but not least....once the smell is in the bed, it may prompt the cat to continue going there....we ended up with a new comforter and that also helped quite a bit.

I have two cats, and only one 'accident'. I tend to think it was on purpose, b/c Fh and I thought the other one had scooped the litter for the day, and it was a mess in there. The guilty kitty did a #2 right outside the box. i cleaned it up, and no accidents since then.

Re: My cat peed IN the bed while we were in it!!!
When we first moved into our house we had both our litterboxes (2 cats at the time) upstairs, but ultimately we wanted them in the basement. Well, FH insisted we move both boxes at the same time. The siames mix couldn't care less where the boxes were and she accomodated just fine. Our persian boy however, REBELED! The next morning after I got out of bed, FH was still in bed and the Persian pissed and pooped (yes, #1 and #2) right on top of FH in the bed. I took the comforter to the dry cleaner, washed the linens with detergent and baking soda and cleaned the matress with a baking soda solution and a light spray of Lysol.
I say, the Persian kitty objected to the litter box location and got pissed at FH (no pun intended) or maybe he plain forgot where it was. Needless to say one box 2 years later is in the upstairs bathroom and the other in the basement... we will move it slowly toward the basement when we are ready to redo our bathroom!
Keep it clean and 'ask' kitties' permission to move it! Of course make sure kitty gets a full check up at the Vet too to rule out a UTI or any other illness.

If he peed in the tub, definitely bring him to your vet again. This is a classic sign of UTI. It happened me and I felt so guilty that we had ignored it for a few weeks. It certainly could be behavioural, but peeing in the tub or sink is usually to bring your attention to his discomfort.
