O you heard it right girls, I booked it 5 months ago right when I got back from my engagement vacation, I had called to book my rehersal and I get a call back several hours later that they r sorry they made a mistake that is the weekend they have their annual festival that they have had for 20 years! I started bugggin like you do not even know the presit was like it is not the end of the world we could do it another day I was like no we can not! I have my HALL, PHOTOG, EVERYYYYYTHING booked! I have my freaking invites about to go into production! I can notttt believe this happened to me! I am calmer now, my sister in law I think found another church but could you imagine? If I didnt call to schedule my rehersal dinner I believe that they wouldn't have figured that out! CONFIRM EVERYTHING , TRIPLE CONFIRM EVERYTHING

OMG that is crazy!!! In case you still need to look into another church, there's St. Paraskevi in Greenlawn. You don't have to be a parishoner to get married there, another couple had the same thing happen to them, only they were an August wedding and it was the festival at Assumption in Port Jeff that booted them. Definitely let me know if you need more info.

Thats horrible and what's worse is that they don't even seem to care. Like the whole wedding is supposed to revolve around them. UGGG thats my biggest issue with the church.

OH NO!
I have to say... more and more I am hearing stories about these churches being less than efficient when it comes to this stuff. I know their number 1 concern isn't our wedding... but we are paying them and there is a lot that goes into planning a wedding.
My own church was a bit wishy washy with this stuff too. They said we were in the book then we weren't then we were then we weren't. Then I went there to see if for my own eyes and we were listed. Then about a month later we had to call about something and we weren't in the book AGAIN! Then we called and spoke to someone else and we were in it! I don't see how something as simple as looking at an appointment book can get screwed up sooo many times and on a consistant basis.
I even called to see what we are allowed to throw and what we can't throw. They didn't know! I asked how long the aisle is and if we can have an aisle runner. Once again, they didn't know! WHO DOES KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON THERE? It seems like no one does! Am I the first person to EVER get married there that they don't know the answers to these simple questions? And even if the woman on the phone doesn't know the answers.. isn't there someone she can ask? So just said I don't know.... call back another time! WHAT IS THAT!
Yea I have my own issues with these people. So I sure do feel your pain. Actually your problem is def on a much grander scale than mine is. But they REALLY need to get it together already!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of ALL the vendors I have dealt with in planning my wedding, the Church has been the most difficult! I don't understand why! I had a meeting with my priest last week, we traveled out to long island to meet with him and HE DIDNT SHOW UP! Then they call me 3 days later and give me an attitude, with no apology and say that I have to come back and 'it shouldn't be such a big deal'... Im in the process of looking for a new church, even though this is the one I was christened in!
