Every time I call to make an appt with the priest the secretary keeps saying 'Whats the rush' and making weird comments under her breath...I was like what? All I want to do is meet the priest.

Oh yes, she also told me I should have done precana last year. I didnt know that....

Is this normal for the Catholic church to make it kinda difficult to meet the priest? I just want to meet him thats all...

It took us about a month and a half to meet the priest, but we couldn't even book the date until we did. Since then its been easy sailing. I booked the rehearsal, FOCCUS and Pre-Cana the next day. We are doing Pre-Cana in Feb for an August wedding, so about 6 months before. This was the one recommended by our priest. But he said we could have done the one before this or after this.

There must be something in the water at the Catholic churches since we had problems with the secretary at my parish as well. The woman double booked my freaking wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank God my family is very close with the Monseignor and we can call him on his cell.

BTW, coming from my Aunt who is a nun, diocese rules are that you have to book your church 6 months prior to the wedding, again if you are Catholic, you know rules were made to be broken.

Also, to my understanding, pre-cana can be done at any time. We took ours last May but that is because my church does not do too many english speaking weddings, hence the once a year (if that )pre-cana class. Im sure the rules on this vary from parish to parish

I would go to mass and talk to the priest right after mass.

This is why we're not getting married in a church or a temple. . .too many middle men (or grouchy old women, for that matter)!!!

We did pre cana a few months ago finished in November, theres no reason you should have had to do it last year!!!!! Were meeting with our priest tomorrow, you do have some time if you haven't gone for your initial meeting, but I don't know why they're blocking you, what church is this???
