MY COMPUTER WAS HACKED!!!

I am so mad, sad, pissed, (insert other words here).

Someone came into my computer today while I was at lunch with my IL's. Deleted all my Quickbooks files with DH's business on it. I dont know what I am going to do. I havent done a back up in 2 months!!!!!! I seriously need a hug... and a shotgun if I ever find out who did it

OMG! That's awful! Do you work in an office or was this at your house? I'm sorry to hear that and I will gladly lend you a shot gun if you find out who it was

It was my laptop at home. I feel so violated

Some A$$HOLE. I dont know. Im guessing it was a completly random event. Dumb me left my firewall down cause my ex was fixing something while I was away today (and no, it wasnt him) I came home and tried to open Quickbooks and it said that the files could not be found. The screen was also open to my C drive which I thought was strange.

Now Ive called all our CC co's and put fraud alerts on our credit reports... I hope this person who ever it was gets caught trying to open a CC in my name or something. Im so mad right now.

I have to take my computer to someone on Tuesday to see if they can find the 'deleted' files on my hard drive. And PRAY that they can find the last 2 months of data!!

That s_cks!!! 2x times someone has been able to access our Citibank account and steal over $10,000. Thankfully, we were able to get it back but it was a big hassle! I hope they are able to find your files!

That's horrible!

I hope there's a way they can find out who did it. Can the computer guys find a cookie of the person that hacked into it?

the same thing happened to me this week!!! Office was deleted from my computer! but i dont know how to put up a firewall

yes...
this is a weird situation... all of the office programs were deleted from my login, but they are fine under FH's login?? i am so lost

no. i dont know what is wrong though... i ran the spyware program and it foudn some on my computer, but i still have no idea why MSoffice isnt workinig under my login (sorry if i sound stupid with this stuff... i am so confused though)

Here's my dumb answer, no . I never even thought about it. I wasn't a big computer user (only at work) before we moved here to Ireland. But in order for our bills to be paid on time, I have to do everything online. I will be installing one immediately though! What an idiot!!!!

No I didnt call the police. They did it all over the internet. I dont know if they 'took anything' but all our financial info was in Quickbooks... not to mention all DH's business info. I am scared someone is going to try to use our info for not so good purposes...

I mean if you were going to hack into someones life and get their personal info wouldnt you do it so you werent caught and they didnt know??? Since this A$$ deleted Quickbooks files I know to check my stmts more carefully and my credit report monthly.
